Chapter 10

Ji An helped me feel better last night after what happened.

It's now morning & I get up to look in the mirror.

Am I always such a mess?

I do my morning routine with no energy.

I don't know if it's because I came back late last night or because I'm traumatized or because I'm just lazy.

I get changed & ready to go out before going to the kitchen.

"Danseok!" Ji An hugs me from behind as I make my cereal.

"Morning Ji An."

"You sound sad. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Thanks for comforting me last night."

"Of course sweetie. Now are you sure you're going to be okay going back to work?"

"Yes. I'll be fine" I take my cereal to the table & sit down.

"Really? You don't need a... I don't know... Companion? Bodyguard? Supportive friend to stay with you?" she sits down opposite me.

"No. I'm fine" I eat my cereal.

She frowns. "I can't even come to drop you off?"

"Ji An I said I'm-"

"IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK TO MEET THEM?!"

"Meet who?"

"BTS!"

"Oh. That's why you want to come with me so badly."

"So can I??"

"I'm still new at the job. It's only my first week. I'll take you another time, okay?"

"Fine" she sits back.

"Oh I'm going to be late" I shove down the last of my cereal before putting it in the sink.

"I'll wash it" Ji An gets up.

"Thanks. Have a nice day & don't work too hard!" I grab my bag.

"You too Danni!"

At the BigHit building

"Manager!" the boys put their pages down & rush over to me.

"Hi everyone" I say in the middle of the hug.

They let go & look at me.

"Are you okay Danseok??" Jin asks.

"Yes I'm fine."

"Taehyung told us what happened. We shouldn't have left you two alone" Namjoon says.

"It's okay. We didn't know that would happen."

"We're so sorry Manager! Please forgive us!" Hoseok gets down on his knees & holds my feet, bowing to me.

"Hoseok, get up. It's really okay" I help him up.

They all apologize & I turn to see Taehyung sitting on the couch, looking at us.

He presses his lips together before looking back at the page in his hands.

Before I can go to him, the vocal coach opens the door & comes in.

"Hello everyone. Please get ready for vocal practice. Could you please leave Ms Choi?"

"Ne (yes)" I slightly bow & leave.

A little later, in Ms Han's office

"Oh my. That sounds horrible!"

"I know. Luckily they protected me."

She sees me look down.

"Are you okay Danseok?"

"Yes. But... I feel so weak. And useless."

"Why?"

"I'm supposed to be helping them. Not the other way around. I'm supposed to be motivating them to work harder to succeed but all I'm doing is being a burden."

"I can understand why you feel that way. But" she reaches over the table with her hand.

I look up & give my hand to her.

"It may seem that you're useless now, but soon you will see that you're such a big help to them. Just be careful so that nothing happens to you & you won't be a burden to them."

"Are you sure?"

"One hundred percent positive. I picked you out of the managing trainees because I knew that you can do anything. You can help this idol group to success. I know you can. But first you need to believe in yourself before you can believe in them."

"... Thank you Ms Han. "

She smiles warmly. "Their vocal practice will be over soon. Why don't you get something for them & go over to commend them on their hard work?"

"That sounds like a great idea" I get up & put my bag over my shoulder.

"Paiting" Ms Han holds up her fists in front of her.

"Paiting" I do the same & exit her office.
