Not So Secret Song

"Hey!" Julie says. Alex looks at me. "Hey." I respond. She looks around at everyone. "Is everything okay?" She says. She looks concerned. "Yeah, yeah. We're all fine. Do you want to rehearse?" Alex says. She shrugs. "Sure. I just have to go tell my dad i'm home." She walks out of the garage. Everyone looks at me. "That wasn't very natural dude." Alex says. I roll my eyes. "Yeah,man. you got to be the chillest of chills." Reggie says. Alex looks over to him. "Okay reggie." I grab my guitar and start playing out new song while we wait for Julie. How am I supposed to just act normal. Thats not a normal thing that happens everyday. Was she ever going to tell me? As i'm about to ask alex, she walks in. "Ready?" She says. Always smiling. "Yeah let's go." I say. We begin singing. All of a sudden Alex stops. "What's wrong?" I ask. This is our last song. We have a performance tomorrow here again. You guys have to get writing. "That's why you stopped" Julie says. "Yes." He says laughing. "Do you have any songs written already?" I ask her. She looks around for a minute snd her face turns a little red. "No. we can work on some tonight if you want to?" She says. "Definitely" I say. We go back to playing until we get it perfect. After rehearsal Carlos comes in and tells Julie it's time to eat. While she's gone I have time to sit and just think. I have no idea what I should do. I think I should tell her that I know. But, what if she's angry with me. I cant afford to lose her. Especially now. "So what do you think your going to do?" Reggie asked. I hesitate. "I think i'm going to tell her about it. Maybe it will be okay." I respond. "Yeah we won't hold you to that." Alex says. We all laugh. It's good to have friends who care. "How's Willie?" I ask him. "He's good. We decided to make it official now." He says. I'm so happy for him. He deserves to be happy. He's never had someone like Willie before. Willies cool. "I'm happy for you man." We all smile. Alex and Willie go out a lot. And he finally made Alex happy again. Speaking of. "Hey guys." Willie says popping in. "Hey." We all say. "Did you guys ever tell Julie about the you know what?" He whispers. Alex laughs. "No. I don't know how." I say. Willie looks at me. "What?" I laugh. "Nothing I just. Maybe you could sing it to her. Just maybe. She might find it adorable." Willie says. I like that idea. I think that's what i'm going to do. I hope she doesn't get mad for it. "Yes! Oh my god! Definitely do that." Alex says. "Oh yeah." Reggie replies. When should I do it? Should I tell her I have to talk to her? But just sing to her. I hope she would enjoy that. I have so many questions. I hope she listens. "I'll do it. I put the song back in her box though. Now what?" I say to them. Alex Reggie laughs. "I knew you would so I took it back afterwards." I laugh. "Thanks I think" We all laugh. Reggie hands me the song.

Suddenly tears are going down my face again. "Okay. Acoustic?" I ask. Reggie and Alex look at each-other. "Definitely" they say in sync. We smile. "I'm going to take them out so you can rehearse." Willie says. "Good luck man." He Continues before walking out. "Thanks." I answer. I sit down memorizing the lyrics and finding the rhythm. I think i got it down. I'm so nervous. "Hey." Julie walks in. "Whatcha doing" I quickly but casually put the song back in my pocket. "Nothing just working on a song." She looks at me and smiles. "Without me?" She laughs. "What's it called?" I panicked. The first two words that popped into my head. "Blind Meaning." She looks interested. "Nice. Cant wait to hear it." She laughs. "Hey Julie. Can I talk to you. Tomorrow when you get hoe from school." I ask. She looks concerned. "Yeah of course. Is everything okay?" She sits down. "Yes. Everything is perfect." Bad choice of words maybe. "I just have to show you something." I say. Trying so hard to be normal. "Okay yeah sure." She says smiling. "Let's work on that song. What you have so far?" I laugh. "Nothing actually I was stuck with just the title. Wanna help?" I say. She smiles and nods her head. We start working on the song. It feels like every other time. Except I know.
