The Purple Door

She had dreams. Terrific, terrifying dreams. And they wouldn't go away. She didn't even remember a time without them.

A girl fell off a cliff, screaming.
A light flew around a living room.
One, lonely, pink, cloud.

Randomness. Terror. But none of it made sense.

Still, she believed it. She had to. In a life of crazy dreams and pessimistic people, this was the only part that was clear. She had to believe.

And then there was that green book. She knew she had to open it, she just didn't know when. Someday. Someday would be the right time.

"I wonder what the portal looks like," Curiosity thought out loud.

"I don't know, but how will we find it if we don't know where to look?" Hope pointed out.

"Well-" Light started.

"Ugh." Worthless sat down on the dirt. "We've been walking forever. Can't we just take a break?"

"No!" Fantasy shouted a bit too loud. Hope jumped. Worthless spread out her feet for a more comfortable position.

"Ow!" She squeaked as her foot hit something.

The others knelt down and tried to figure out what she hit.

Light pulled up a small piece of wood. On it were lines, some weird shapes, an X, and the word portal. "It's a map!"

"To the portal?" Worthless stood up.

"I think so!"

"Awesome!"

"Yeah," Curiosity said. "But where are we?"

"I don't know. But I'm guessing that the three lumps are mountains. So we go in the direction of three mountains?" Hope guessed.

"Makes sense," Reality agreed.

Fantasy did a 360 degree twirl. "There," she pointed. "See that shape above the trees? Those are probably the mountains."

"How far?" Worthless whined.

"Worthless!"

"Okay. Then let's go... Not like anyone cares about me."

"Worthless... Come on!" Fantasy started running toward the mountains. "Last one there is a... I don't know. But I'm gonna get there first!" She laughed. Reality sprinted up to her, but Hope and Light were faster. Worthless just stood there.

"Come on!" Curiosity smiled her. The two ran off together.

After occasional breaks to breathe from all of them, Hope won. She smiled at the three tall mountains that were a few steps away from her.

Light looked at the map. "Well, to get here, we went forward in a straight line, which means that 'down' on the map is forward... So," she turned the map upside down. "We go left." The others followed her as she walked, well, to the left.

"What are those other things?" Fantasy asked.

"Flowers?"

"Trees?"

"Poles?"

Suggestions jumped around. "I guess we'll just have to find out." Light stated.

After about ten minutes of walking, Reality looked over at the map, which Light was still carrying. "Another left," she directed.

Soon they were standing next to a giant, dead, dragonfly. "Ew." Hope voiced everyone's thoughts.

"Take a right!" Light turned, eager to look away from... it.

"Oh my gosh," Reality jumped after they had walked for a bit. "We're so close." They had now, in total, walked for about forty-five minutes.

"Right - again." Light whispered.

Ahead, a purple light glowed. As they got closer, they could see that it was a door.

"Yes!" Fantasy ran. But then she screamed.

"What?" Reality ran after her. She looked down at Fantasy, who had fallen in a hole. Fantasy's outreached arm didn't even make it to the ground that the others stood on.

"Hold on!" Reality reached for Fantasy, who grabbed it. Reality pulled her up a tiny bit. "Try to jump up!" She told her.

Fantasy jumped. Reality grabbed her with both hands and pulled. Finally, Fantasy could reach the side of the pit and pull herself up. "Thank you," she said. She then leaned over, closing her eyes and holding her head.

Light, followed by Worthless, Curiosity, and Hope, had already ran over.

"Are you hurt?" Hope asked. Fantasy was still holding her head. She started to moan. And then... she stopped. She opened her eyes and sat up straighter.

"I'm fine."

"What happened?" Reality looked concerned.

"Reality. Reality, you did it!"

"I did what?"

"The act of caring!"

"The act of- you remember now? You have your memories back?"

Fantasy grinned. "Yup."

"Okay," Curiosity interrupted. "Let's go to the portal. Without any more falling, please?"

The purple door seemed to glow brighter and brighter as they neared it. "Well?" Fantasy asked. The others nodded.

She opened the door. But on the other side was darkness, not the trees that should have been there.

Fantasy held out her hand. Curiosity grabbed it. Reality reached for Worthless' and Light's, who held Hope's. Soon they were all standing in a circle, holding hands. Fantasy took a step forward. So did they.

And the six jumped into the darkness, as the purple door closed behind them.

Memories, portals, and now they venture into our world. Hehe.

Feel free to send me a better map than the one that I drew... (At the top/side)
