Sighing, I bit my lip, looking at him, my own eyes filling with tears like his. “That’s not a reason to treat me like shit, Alex.”
Shaking his head, he lolled his head back, exhaling sharply. “I don't know any other way, right now, Logan. Daniel was the one who would give me all the advice.”
Walking over to him, I placed my hand on his forearm, rubbing my thumb across his skin. “You’re not letting me help you, Alex. Last night you let me in. Why not now?”
“Because now you’re mine and all I seem to do is scare you away.” He whispered, looking down at his shoes, his voice quiet.
I reached out, grabbing his hand in mine, lacing our fingers together. “You’re not scaring me, Alex. You’re hurting me.”
Shrugging his shoulders, Alex frowned. “And that’s even worse. So why bother you with all the other crap if you’re just going to leave?”
Tilting my head to the side, I sighed. “Alex, look at me. Do you think I'm going to leave you or leave this?” I gestured to everything around me with my free hand, as if to say life in general.
He looked down, giving me his answer without speaking. “Alex, I love you, nothing is going to change that. You have to trust me. I'm not leaving.
“There’s no reason for me to leave now that I have you. But you have to talk to me; you have to treat me right.” Pulling him closer to me, tugging on his hand, I rested my head on his chest, as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
A tear rolled off his cheek, landing on my shoulder. “I'm sorry.”
&&.
The two of us had sat there for what felt like the longest time. It was silent, but the silence was reassuring, welcomed with open arms by the two of us.
Tears were streaming down his cheeks, becoming less frequent and less heavy, however. His face was contorted with agony, but his eyes were emotionless.
My fingers were laced his, resting on the grass. His thumb would occasionally rub against my skin, sending shivers up my arm each time.
“I miss him,” Alex whispered, causing me to look at him. I bit my lip, running my hand through my hair, nodding. “I wrote a song.”
Raising an eyebrow, I tilted my head to the side. It wasn’t like him to write a song and share it with anyone but the three guys in his band. “Did you?”
He nodded, leaning forward, resting his forehead on mine. “I want you to read it one day.” I smiled, tilting my head up, pressing my lips against his for a simple kiss.
Pulling back, biting my bottom lip, I nodded my head. “I would love to hear it.” Smiling, he laughed, rolling his eyes. “You’re going to play it for me.”
He raised his eyebrows, smirking. “I am?” Laughing, I nodded. “When would you like me to play it for you?”
Shrugging, I sighed. “Whenever you want to play it. But I want to hear you sing it.” It wasn’t that I haven't heard him sing before; he might not have known but Daniel and I went to all their gigs.
His voice is beautiful, almost a one-way ticket to his thoughts. Something was telling me that no one has heard the song, let alone read the lyrics.
“Then let’s go.” Alex said, removing his hand from mine, turning to look at the gravestone. “I’ll, uh, I'm going to be coming here more often. I'm sorry; I miss you; I love you.”
I stood up, holding my hand out to help him up. He placed his hand on mine, covering my little hand with his calloused one.
It was almost perfect, the scene that was unfolding in front of me. Dan was gone, which only drove a stake through us, but Alex was here, with me, and that’s all I ever wanted.
&&.
“What, Logan, come on, let me prove to you that I want you.” His voice, he’s begging me, it cracks and becomes higher at certain parts, I don’t know what to do.
He’s been such a horrible boyfriend, let alone a horrible person. The things that happened, when I look back at it, there was nothing good about our relationship.
When he was home, he wouldn’t even be home. He was in town, just at a bar with his friends or at some lame house party that a twenty year old was throwing.
I had so many gallery openings and I don’t think he’s been to more than two, and that’s because the guys wanted to go, so he had to make an appearance.
At first, he would call a lot, and by a month before he ended things I would be lucky to get a single text message the entire tour.
There were other girls. Deep down, I think that I knew there were other girls, I know what people said about him, but I just didn’t want to believe it.
No one told me, not before this, it was all just an assumption, a feeling I had. If he told me, it, it wouldn’t have been so bad, it’s, it’s so much worse because he didn’t tell me.
Shaking my head, I comb my fingers through my hair. “I, you, I, I want nothing to do with this, Alex. You, we used to be so great, Alex. And you, you, not me, you destroyed it.”
“So let me fix it.”
