|TW: Mentions of death, murder|
Two weeks later...
"Jesus fucking Christ! You killed them!" I threaded my fingers through my hair. "Veronica, they were trying to take you away from me!" JD shouted. "You- you're- you're insane." I shout back at him. I glance at Ram and Kurt's lifeless bodies. I almost throw up. "Veronica- VERONICA, LISTEN TO ME!" JD took hold of my arms and stopped me in my tracks. His eyes darkened. "I love you, Veronica. I did this for us. So we can be together! Without those assholes getting in the way."
They say, people will do anything for the ones they love. The thing is- I don't love JD. And I made the mistake of telling him that.
"I DON'T LOVE YOU, JASON DEAN! I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS ANYMORE. I'M IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE, OKAY?"
Tears brimmed in my eyes."Wh- who? Who are you in love with?" he asked. "I'm not telling-" he cut me off, shaking me violently. "WHO?!" he yelled this time. I didn't say anything and avoided eye contact. "It's Chandler... isn't it?" he asked quietly. I tense up when he mentioned her. He let go of his grip on my arms. "I'm- I'm leaving, JD. Please just- stay away from me," is the last thing I say before running out of there.
---
"Hun, are you sure you're okay? You look shaken up, like you're traumatized," Mac asked. "Y-yeah. I just tripped and fell," I lie. She finishes covering up the bruise that formed from when JD had gripped onto my arms. "Alright. I'm gonna go see what Duke is up to," she says when she finishes. I nod and watch her walk out.
I glance around Mac's room. She's a very bright person. I think. I hear the door shut and stand up immediately. "Oh- Heather uh, hey," I say, a blush creeping up my face. "Veronica. What happened?" Chandler asks. I bite my lip. "Uh- I tripped and fell-" she cuts me off. "Roni, you're a terrible liar. What really happened?" she asked again. "I- I- um..." I try to think of ways to get out of this. "Veronica!" Heather says after a moment. "Fine! Fine... It was JD-" Her eyes flashed a dangerous look. "Wait- please, let me finish. Don't do anything stupid," I quickly add. She inhales deeply and sighs.
"Go ahead."
"He did something really really bad and so I broke up with him and when he grabbed my arms to try and make me stay it-"
I break down in tears. I feel Heather's arms wrap around me. "It's okay, Veronica," Heather whispered. "It's just- you were right. You were right not to trust him Heather and now I-" she cuts me off. "I know I know shh..." Heather said. After a few moments I stopped crying.
"... Heather?"
"Hm?"
"When JD and I were arguing, I said something..."
"You don't have to tell me-"
"N- no. I want to."
She nodded and we sat down on Mac's bed. "Um well... he was talking about the terrible thing he did and that he did it for 'us' as in me and him. He said that he loved me and I don't know where it came from, but it slipped out. I uh- I said that I didn't love him and that I was in love with... someone else..." I trail off at the end. Heather was silent. I immediately regretted it.
"I- I'm sorry. I know you're not ready and I just- I-"
"I love you too."
The words left her ever-so softly. I meet her eyes, a blush creeping up both of our faces. I hesitantly lean towards her. She gives me a small nod before I connect our lips. She kissed back immediately, her hands finding their way to my waist and hair. That's it. I'm in love with Heather Chandler. And she loves me back.
"How fucking cute."
Heather pulls away, unfortunately. "Erm- I uh..." Heather struggles to find the words and looks away embarrassed. Duke rolled her eyes. "How 'bout we um... give it a whirl?" Chandler asks. I smile and nod. Heather kisses my cheek and stands up. "Shoes off!" Mac says abruptly. "Wh- no!" Heather protests. Mac glares at her.
Heather huffs and kicks off her heels. "Let's go to the gas station. I want some Red Vines," Mac says happily. "Sure," I agree. I stand up as well. "Why'd you make me take my shoes off if I was just gonna put them back on?" Heather asks. "I'm sure it's not-" I cut myself off at the end and look down at her. "Woah- you're really short," I say. "I am not! You're just tall," she shoots back.
Mac and I start laughing and I'm pretty sure I hear Duke giggle a bit as well. Heather scoffs and puts her heels back on. "Let's just go," she says, walking towards the door. We follow her, still giggling about her height.
