This story is the second installment of the story collection, The Personal Journal of Mycroft Holmes.

Greg is determined to make 2018 a Christmas Mycroft will never forget. It seems that everyone from Mycroft to John, though, has secrets they've been hiding for a very long time.

PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
Welcome to The Personal Journal of Mycroft Holmes! I do hope you enjoy it. Gatiss' Mycroft is a difficult character to pin down, but as I write, I occasionally feel I've done him justice. This series is written for Mystrade fans and I am so appreciative of your comments and feedback. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the drama, angst, mystery, excitement, and love that can only exist in the world of brollies and donuts.

CONTENT WARNING
This work deals with mature themes and features explicitly described sexual interactions. This version is for readers over the age of 18 only.

COPYRIGHT NOTE
This work is intended for the personal use of the author and other members of the related "fandom." It is written with complete respect for Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat, Stephen Thompson, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This work in no way aims to change, correct, or significantly alter theirs.
While Doyle's work and, therefore, the name, Mycroft Holmes, is now Public Domain, the author understands that material written and created by Gatiss, Moffat, and Thompson is still rightfully protected.
This story is for fun within the Sherlock "fandom" only and will never be used for profit. It is presented in good faith, knowing that much of Gatiss' early work could also be considered part of the fanfiction genre. When presented as a published EBook or physical book, the reader may incur a cost to access the material, but only in the case that the author has had to pay for hosting or printing. The author will never profit from this work. Any requests to remove or destroy this work made by Mark Gatiss, Steven Moffat, Sue Vertue, the estate of Beryl Vertue, Hartswood Films, BBC, or any other related entities will be honoured immediately without question.
No copyright violation is intended.

PLAGARISM NOTE
In this series, Mycroft Holmes is an avid reader. Whenever we find him reading, we are likely to see passages from Dickens' Great Expectations. This is the author's nod to Mark Gatiss, the actor who plays Mycroft Holmes in the BBC Sherlock. He has publicly named Great Expectations as his favourite novel. Great Expectations is, of course, Public Domain, but no plagiarism is intended.

VARIANCES
In this series, Lady Smallwood's first name is Elizabeth. This aligns with His Last Vow.
In The Lying Detective, we see the calling card you will read about in the prologue of The Call. That card clearly shows Alicia instead of Elizabeth. In this case, the author will maintain Elizabeth, as it was written in the script by Steven Moffat, whereas the calling card was merely a props department decision.
Also in this series, D.I. Lestrade carries a sidearm. This is not true in Moftiss canon and is also not accurate in the real world. A plain clothes New Scotland Yard D.I. does not carry a weapon.
However, this is fiction after all and Greg having a gun allows for more intriguing story lines as well as a look into policing talents and skills, such as marksmanship, at which he can excel despite being constantly overshadowed by Sherlock's and Mycroft's intellect.
