Mola's Pov

*Crash*

I woke up to a crash near the front door. That could only mean one thing, mom was home. I couldn't take this, at least not right now. The door slammed open and in came stumbling, my mother.

"YOU! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! HE'S DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU!" she screamed in her drunken stupor. Her words hit me right in the heart because in a sense it was true.

*FLASHBACK*

"Daddy, Dadddddy!" A slightly younger version of me screamed.

"Yeah sweetie?" My dad replied.

"Did you order the thingyyyy?" I asked excitedly.

"Sure did, I just have to pick it up from the store. I'm picking it up today don't worry, now go do your homework." He said getting up to grab his coat and keys.

"Thanks Dad." I said smiling so big my mouth ached.

"No problem, it's your 12th birthday! Now, your homework has to be done before I get home or you're not getting your gift."

"Okay, I'm going!! Bye Dad, come home soon!" I can't wait.

"Bye hon, Bye Melissa." He said on his way to the door.

"Bye sweetie!" My mom shouted from the kitchen. With that the door closed and I ran to my room to finish my homework. I can't believe I'm finally getting it!!! I finished my homework in 20 minutes and ran downstairs.

"Hey mom, is dad home yet?" I asked politely.

"No honey, but he should be home soon. There's really bad traffic today. Do you want to come help me bake cookies?" She offered.

"Mom, when do I ever deny cookies?" I said, was that even a question.

"Ah yes, my cookie monster, well let's get baking so your dad can have cookies for dessert." My mom said while finishing off the spaghetti that we were going to have for dinner.

"Okay, I can make the batter if you'll put them in the oven." I hated ovens. They were death traps, like come on.

"Sure, don't eat the batter raw though, it has raw eggs and you'll get sick." My mom said, smirking knowingly.

"Mom, you ruin all my fun, but fine." I said while measuring and mixing the ingredients.

My mom and I laughed and danced while baking, soon we had finished baking 3 batches of cookies and a nice big cake for my birthday. It was about 9:30 P.M.  Where was my dad?

"Mom?" I asked, knowing she was worried too.

"Don't worry sweetie he'll be back soon." Right then the phone rang. My mom sprung to pick up the phone and I charged to the other phone so I could hear the conversation.

"Hello, is this Mrs. Dillon?" A man who was not my father said gruffly.

"Y-yes, this is she..." She replied, her voice shaking with fear.

"I regret to inform you that your husband has been in a terrible car crash." He said in a monotone voice.

"Is he okay? My husband?!" My mom screeched, sobbing uncontrollably.

"He's at the hospital in critical condition. He might not make it. You may want to head over here now." He said being blunt.

"Yea okay I'll be there." She said.
