"And the Academy Award for best actress goes to..." Lenny Kravitz paused mid sentence for dramatic effect as he opened the envelope. "Miss. Shannon Thornton for her performance in P-Valley."

The whole hall erupted into applause as the woman of the night stood from her seat. The camera panned over to her and her date for the night, which had already taken the internet by storm.

Twenty-five year old actor Nick Robinson held her hand as she gathered her bearings in her beautiful dress. After she was standing, he let her hand go but didn't sit down. He stood to watch her walk to the stage. 130 mm Christian Louboutins aren't made for walking, they said. You'll take a real tumble if you misstep even once, they said. But of course, when told she couldn't do something, Shannon did it anyway, just to prove them wrong.

Because she was the honoree of the night, her entrance, as well as her attire was dramatic in and of itself. She was already named best dressed for the night and had gotten the highest honor in awards for the year. Designed by Law Roach himself, her fire red dress started off as a halter styled bustier in the front and flowed down into tuxedo cut pants that fitted down to her ankle, however, around her waist and down, a dramatic train followed and no one could believe she had the balls to wear it. A suit with a train she wanted, and a suit with a train she got.

At thirty-four, so many men had professed their love to her, whether it was on her Instagram page, in person, or through fan mail. Some had even went as far as asking her to marry them. She was known for being single because nobody was ever good enough for her. Nobody ever gave her those fireworks that all her movies talked about. She wanted that and when she didn't have it, all of her relationships went to hell.

Her date for the night, Nick, would have never, ever gotten a response from her if it wasn't for her best friend, Taraji, telling her to go out with him.

"Girl, that young ass boy is fine as hell," she paused to sip her green tea. "Shoot, if he wanted to date me, I would be like heeeey," she bounced in her seat, causing Shannon to laugh. "Besides, ain't no telling what he can do to you, girl you better get that man."

"He's twenty-five. Tee, I'm old enough to be his auntie hell." Shannon paused. "He has an infatuation with older women, look at him and J. Lo. I'm not about to play with that lil white boy like that."

Taraji cut her eyes at Shannon before sitting down her cup, "Okay one, J. Lo herself has damn near ten years on you. That's a whole ass publicity stunt, shut up about it. Two, she old enough to be his damn mama and them kids closer to his age than she is," Taraji said and Shannon nearly spit out her own tea in an attempt to stifle her laughter. "Bitch if you spit on me." Taraji raised her finger in warning. "And three, I think he's being sincere."

"Okay so getting on Twitter and telling the world he wants to marry me is sincere? What happened to actually dating and asking a woman out?" Shannon's eyes saddened and Taraji smiled.
