The bell rang and it was time to move on to the next lesson, Transfiguration. Harry quickly mounted from his seat, avoiding Hermione. This must be a mistake he thought, I'm not in love with my best friend, I can't be.
But Harry was again proven wrong, and he hated it. He scurried across the halls and descended through a few stairs before he reached the Transfiguration classroom. He sat in his preferred spot and waited for the students to arrive.
Professor McGonagall was already present in the room. It was only a while after that Hermione entered the room and surprisingly, she sat next to him.
"Good day Potter, Granger." The Headmistress greeted, nodding her head at both students.
"Hello Professor," said both Harry and Hermione in unison.
"Well, I assume you two are doing well in your positions as Head Students of the school. I am very pleased it was given to you two." said Professor McGonagall with a grin.
"Thank you Professor, it's a privilege coming from you," Harry commented and with that, the Transfiguration master continued waiting for any more arriving students from both Gryffindor house and Hufflepuff.
Harry gave a little smile at Hermionr and she the same. The tension definitely changed since the previous lesson, it was still there however. Ron came shortly after and sat next to Hermione without talking. Tension. It remained like this for the rest of the lesson.
After that Harry had a free period followed by two sessions of Defense Against The Dark Arts. Before Harry knew, it was nearing dark. He made his way down to the Great Hall for dinner, not wanting to miss it again.
Ron and Hermione were already there, both their hands were laced on the wooden table. Harry sat with Neville again and noticed that Ginny was not near them. Instead she was about 8-9 students away from them. This puzzled Harry. Why isn't she sitting with them? He shooed away the thought and went back to half-listening about herbology from Neville.
"It's amazin' my favourite subject for miles. Way better in Seventh Year than First..." Neville's words turned into little mutters as Harry gazed at Hermione's interlocked hand. He felt somewhat miserable and he wanted Ron's hand to be his.
He imagined, like he did the day they arrived, what it would be like if Hermione and him were together. His mind brought him back to when she had kissed him on the cheek. At that time he only viewed her as what she is, his best friend, but now...
"...do you think she will Harry?" Harry quickly shooked his thought away again. He wasn't at all aware that Neville was asking him a question.
"Er, I'm sorry I didn't quite catch what you said."
"Do you think Luna fancies me? I know she's in a different house and is a year below me but, I didn't get a chance to say I'm mad for her when I said I would. I mean, can't really, was a bit busy with the war and all."
"I think you guys would be a great match, Neville."
"Woah, I can't seem to contain m'self - there she is! Alright guys I'll go talk to her. Wish me luck!" said Neville and he forwarded himself towards the patch of pale blonde hair Harry knew was Luna's.
It seemed quiet. None of the trio started a conversation and nor did they feel like it. Harry wished for Luna to accept Neville's confession for love sooner so as to get rid of the silence. Unfortunately, he never came back and sat himself next to Luna on the Ravenclaw table. Harry wished for dinner to be over.
Ron unassumingly tried to break the long lasting silence, but Harry cut him off before he could say a word."Harr-"
"Ron I don't want to talk about it." There was a slight pause. Ron looked down as if recollecting his thoughts and restraining himself from something.
