My heart was in my mouth when the handle of the back door turned and I had no protection whatsoever.
“HEY! WHOA WHOA WHOA” Unknown said barging into my house. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“WELL IT’S A BIT FUCKING LATE NOW I JUST SHIT OUT MY HEART” I barked loudly, heart pounding in my trousers. Unknown hung his head and turned around, his head and back were vibrating.
“Are-Are you- Do you find this funny?” I questioned him. He turned around and not being able to hold it in any longer let out a cackle. I skipped over to him and slapped him.
“I’m sorry” he said in between laughter. Although I was traumatised I couldn’t help but smile at him. He’s so beautiful. Well, I think he is. Even covered he seems as though he is. I enjoy looking at him okay?
“What has you here? And why the back door? And also who said you could just barge into my home unannounced?” I inquired, pretending to be mad, I don’t care if he bombed the house and came in. Once I saw him I was happy.
“You know you always ask so many questions” Unknown said sitting down, making himself at home.
“I came, just to talk. I figured you would need to talk after being bombarded with so much information today. I didn’t want to be seen knocking on the front door.” Unknown said as I walked in to the kitchen to grab a wine glass. I held it within his eyeshot and he looked as though he was thinking about it before giving me a confirming nod. I walked back in to the dining room with a fresh bottle of wine and two wine glasses.
“That’s very sweet of you. I sure do need it to be honest and Olivia abandoned me for her bed.” I sighed. “Oh shit, actually. What if she wakes up” I panicked “Is there any way we can go somewhere instead to talk?”
“Of course! I know just the place!” He confidently told me.
I grabbed my jacket from the closet in the hall, walking back into the dining room putting on my jacket with my keys ready in my hand. “I’m all set!” I said.
“Haven’t you got a bag?”
“A bag?” I questioned “What for?”
“Well you are bringing the wine aren’t you? It’s been years since I’ve had a drink” He said with a smirk.
Do you want me to get you a horse and carriage too while I’m at it? I chuckled to myself, rolled my eyes then went up to my room quietly trying not to wake Olivia and came back down quick enough too with a bag. I made my way back in to the dining room for the 50th time tonight and put the two glasses and the bottle of wine in my bag and made my way out the back door, ahead of Unknown.
He didn’t follow me, he just looked at me with a cheeky grin on his face and his arms crossed.
“What? Aren’t you coming?” I asked.
“I’m just waiting here for my horse and carriage.” He mocked.
“GET OUT OF MY BRAIN” I begged.

Unknown exited my house so I locked the back door.
“Hang on to my back” Unknown ordered.
“Um we’re flying? Do you not want me to give you a break? I can drive?” I told him.
“Not to wear I’m thinking of going!” He replied.
I raised an eyebrow, not entirely understand but I caught the gist.
“Hang on tight”
I latched on to him and we boomed up into the air and we were in amidst the clouds in the sky in a matter of seconds. I’ve flown with him earlier but not like this. He was right to tell me to hang on tight because if I didn’t we would have been repeating todays mishap all over again.
Unknown got higher and it got colder but he slowed down so it gave me the chance to open my eyes and appreciate the goings on below me. The city looked absolutely stunning. I was astonished. It must be wonderful being able to do this whenever you like.
I felt safe on Unknown’s back but a little uneasy at the moment as we were now flying over water, calm and luminous thanks to the moon. As beautiful as it was water is still water and I don’t know what’s in there right now. We came to a gradual stop. And even though it was night- the glow from the moon, lighting the water made things visible and I knew straight away we were on Sandy Hook Beach in New Jersey. I don’t think I’ve told many people but Sandy Hook is/was and will always has and always will be one of my favourite places to in, well, times much like these.
“Thank you for flying with Air-Me you are free to exit the cabin once the fasten-seatbelts sign is no longer visible. We hope you choose us again in the near future.” Unknown said impersonating a Flight attendant, and quite accurately so might I add, even had the feedback intercom tones in his voice. I smiled, plonking my bottom firmly on the soft cold sand, Unknown following.
I unzipped my bag and took out the bottle of wine and two glasses and poured mine to the brim.
“Um, I would appreciate if you left some for me.” He joked.
I faked a laugh and poured the wine into his glass. He brought the glass to his mouth and exhaled with joy. “Delicious” he added.
“So” I said taking a sip. “I don’t suppose you can tell me what Destiny was getting at earlier on today?” I asked, chancing my arm.
“No can do! Sorry, Stuff that important and crucial can only be spoken somewhere we know confidentiality cant be breached and everything is secure.” Unknown notified me.
“SIR, YES SIR” I joked, saluting him. “Haha, aw no, I understand, It’s just so weird you know?”
“Oh yeah, believe me, I know!” He told me.
“What do you mean?”
“When I found out what I could do. It was crazy. I was SO scared. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t know what the consequences where if word got out about what I could do. But luckily I had my family around me to help me. Turns out my Mother was the same. I never even knew.” He told me, occasionally sipping his drink.
“Oh, no way! And was is it that she can do exactly?”
“Elasticity.”
“Elasticity? As in elastic? You mother was a rubber band?” I questionably joked. He laughed loudly.
“Precisely! She came in handy when I needed to keep my sticks compact” He said mocking me. I nudged him on the arm causing him to tip over a bit, as he was completely relaxed and that was great to see, after all these heroes go through day in day out.
“But yeah, she could stretch all of her limbs, I guess I should have known years before I found out as she would tuck me into bed as a child just as her phone would ring downstairs and I wouldn’t be looking but I would hear her answer it as she walked out my bedroom door!” He shared.
“Wow that is so cool” I complimented her. “Hey, why didn’t any of the others come and check up on me?”
“They’re all at home, taking a break. We have Sid wired to our suits so if anything major comes up that the cops can’t handle one or all of us will be there!” He told me.
“Wow. I never used to believe in all of what you do but man, is it admirable! But hey wait a second, Why aren’t you at home? Why did you come check up on me?” I asked.
“I don’t know, I didn’t think I needed a reason I just thought you might like the company?” He said, but I wasn’t convinced. I gave him the ‘you lying to me?’ eyes.
“Ugh Okay. I might have flown over your house and heard your thinking. And I waiting a couple odd hours to check up on you before acting on it and when I came back hours later you were still thinking deep on the same thing and I really needed to assure you. We need to protect you. We need to protect everyone yes! It was one hundred percent most certainly not your fault that those cops were killed. Sometimes unfortunately, It does happen! And as much as we would like to be able to prevent it from happening we couldn’t” Wow, does he have a way with words, I immediately felt like a thousand bricks were being lifted off my shoulders when he re-assured me.
“Wow, Normally I would scald you for reading my mind but wow, thank you. I needed to hear that.”
I praised.
He nodded, taking a swig of his wine and lifting up his other hand to shake his thumbs up at me.
Unknown slammed his upper half into the sand and let out a sigh and I copied him.
