After getting my things together and getting dressed I made my way down the staircase and onto the first floor.
“I’m heading now.” I told Aaron who had his Arms folded and legs crossed leaning against the sofa in the sitting room. He let out a brief sigh and walked up to me.
“Come on then, I’ll take you home.” Aaron insisted walking down the hallway to the right, underneath the staircase.
“You don’t have to do that.”
I followed him through a door in his apartment which lead to a room with one big mirror hanging on the wall across from an elevator.
“I want to.” Aaron said pushing a button which made the elevator doors open smoothly.
We both stepped in to the red velvet escalator. Wow it’s sad knowing that there’s an escalator in his house that is fancier than my whole house put together.
The escalator began to descend at a fast pace too but nothing that would make you throw up, thankfully. Aaron kept eye contact with me all the way down the escalator, I noticed but kept looking in different directions so I wasn’t staring back.
“Why does this feel a bit weird?” Aaron asked.
“Maybe because it is?” I assured him. “I went from being just a normal 20 year old guy who works a normal job and lives with his normal-ish best friend in his normal home to a permanently confused guy who works above a mysterious lair in which he visits with the new people in his life who happen to be superheroes from a far-away world who know more about him than he does. If that doesn’t answer your question then I don’t know what your definition of weird is because this IS weird.”
The escalator door dinged and opened, myself, followed by Aaron left the escalator and my jaw dropped.
We were in a car park with 3 stunning top of the range cars.
“This one.” Aaron said pointing to a beautiful black and teal masterpiece of a car, not that I knew much about cars but I’ve seen enough RnB music videos to know that is was a Bugatti. I am living.
I carefully got into the car, so afraid of scratching or breaking anything.
“Oh, so you’re into flashy cars?”
“Not really but the cars I have are like my children. I remember looking online for a car and seeing this one and falling in love with it straight away.”
I wish Aaron showed me his cars earlier, then I would have known he was straight and it wouldn’t have been awkward!Within minutes of driving, we managed to make it back to my neighbourhood in what would normally take about an hour and a half for me to drive. I must say I am incredibly envious right now.
We pulled up outside my house, Aaron took the key out and the engine stopped whirring.
“Wow, thank you so much, for everything!” I said getting out of the car.
Aaron leaned over the passenger seat and smiled.
“My pleasure completely. I’ll be seeing you soon!” Aaron said waving me off. I walked towards my house and Aaron rolled down the window. “Oh, and Daniel?” Aaron added
“Um, yeah?”
“Nothing about you was ever normal!” Aaron said cheekily. I smiled like crazy and I’m sure my face lit up like a hot coal.
“Uh, should I take that as a compliment or?” I asked and he shrugged laughing, speeding off down the road.
And just like that I already miss being around him. I can feel it inside me and around me something… powerful? Or magical if you will. Whatever it was I felt it and I wish I didn’t because we can never be together, heck! We can never ever be friends.“WHO. WAS. THAT.” Olivia screamed from our car behind me in the driveway causing me to jump.
“Ugh, I didn’t even see you there do you want me to soil my pants?” I said struggling for breath.
Olivia leaned over the passenger seat and opened the door.
“Come on, get in we’re going shopping.” Olivia demanded. I rolled my eyes and hopped in beside her. “Now tell me where you and who was that absolute babe?”
“His name is Aaron, he’s just a friend from out of town. And where are we going why are we going shopping?”
“Nicola came over last night when you weren’t here and we had wine and talked for hours” Nicola explained turning the corner continuing on and down onto the motorway. “It was great like we were saying how we miss hanging out and that we wished we could do it more often and then Bill came over and we were talking and we said we should do dinner and I said that myself and you would love to cook us all food tonight and maybe go out later?” Liv explained, and as she spoke I smiled, it couldn’t have sounded more perfect right now, exactly what I needed.
“Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. YES! That sounds great!! What we cooking? Where we going??” I asked.
“I don’t know something nice, easy? Um, Lasagne? I was thinking Freeze but does anyone ever even go to Freeze on a Sunday? And I’m going to have to leave rather early because I’m working tomorrow”
“That sounds fab Liv! And um, yeah? We do! And I’m off so I’ll probably stay on with Nicola and Bill if they do but if not I’ll be fine on my own as always.” I explained.
“Well once you’re safe” Olivia stated.
I really was so lucky to have so many great people looking out for me, especially Olivia. I don’t know what I would do without her? Obviously because her mother took me in as her own and raised me but also because Olivia is my soul mate and I’d be lost without her. I grabbed her hand and smiled at her. She smiled back but kept her eyes on the road.
