"It wasn't her." Nico's voice was just a whisper, but the venom behind it was palpable. "It wasn't her!" he cried louder, turning towards Annabeth. "You ejected her and she was- she was Hazel! You killed my sister!"
Annabeth tried to swallow her horror. "Look, Nico, I wasn't- I didn't-"
"I don't care!" Nico stepped forward, his hand drifting to his belt where his pocket knife was.
"Whoa!" Percy stepped in front of Annabeth. "Nico, calm down. This was all of us, not just Annabeth."
Nico turned his gaze to Percy. "Of course you would say that."
"Yeah, I would. This is on all of us."
Nico scoffed. "All of us? Really? Because last I checked Frank and I didn't vote to kill her."
"We can play the blame game later." Piper's voice was low and cold. "Right now we have a job to do."
"No, we don't. Our job is to find the impostors." Nico narrowed his eyes. "And I think it's Annabeth and Percy."
Ananbeth's mouth fell open. "Are you kidding? I'm the one saving all of you!"
"That's your god complex talking! Where were you when Jason was killed, huh?"
"God complex? You can't be serious. And Percy and I were with Leo the whole time. Also, if I was the imposter why would I have told you about them?"
Nico threw his arms up. "I don't know! To throw us off the trail? To trick us? Maybe we should eject you and see for sure."
Percy stepped closer to Nico. "You really want to stop talking."
"Oh yeah? Why is that?"
"Both of you, stop!" Frank stepped between them. "This fighting is getting us nowhere. And it won't... it won't bring Hazel back. Nothing will. The only thing we can do now is get back to earth." Frank's eyes were red-rimmed and the corners of his mouth turned down, but he stood straight. "I just want to go home."
Nico glanced down at the floor. "Then I guess-"
He was immediately cut off by the sirens."What now!" Piper yelled over the noise.
Annabeth pressed her hands to her head. "That's the O2 alarm!! Everyone switch their oxygen on." Annabeth reached behind her and flicked the switch to divert the airflow from outside to the oxygen tank on her back. "Leo, and Percy, come with me to oxygen!" Annabeth yelled over the alarm. "Everyone else, head to admin and punch the code!"
The red lights leached the color out of Percy's spacesuit as he ran next to her. Once the O2 tanks were fixed, someone in admin and someone in O2 had to punch in the override code to reset. Annabeth turned the corner to O2, and the white steam was already starting to fill the room. With the red lighting, it looked like blood mist. Not a great comparison, Annabeth thought.
"Leo, let's go!" Annabeth called, opening the tool kit. She and Leo worked side-by-side to stop the leak, fingers flying across the boards. She really did like working with Leo, they thought the same way about a lot of things. Annabeth slapped some putty and scraped it with her paint knife, the oxygen hissing as it forced its way around her patch.
"Just like old times, right Annabeth?" Leo said as he wiped a cloth through a pipe.
Annabeth snorted. "You mean when we did this two days ago?"
"Yup! And the day before that." Leo connected two wires and handed her the putty. "On three?"
Annabeth applied another layer to her patch, nodding with grin satisfaction when it held. "On three."
