Chapter 2Yami

Hi my name is Yami Okami, I was born in the Badlands where the poorest of people live somehow my parents and I manage to scrape through. The badlands are part of the kingdom Milon. I never really agreed with the government but my parents don't question it, but I try to get along with them as best as I can. Every day I meet up with my friend Kogi at the tallest tree in the forest, the Great Oak. But one day Kogi came with a book he found in his father's study. That entire day we sat under the great tree reading the book. It Talked about what the government really is, all the frauds, the threats. I grew even more disgusted with the ruler that night. I went to tell my parents about what I learned hoping to change their minds but the only thing I accomplished was getting a beating.A few weeks later as I was waiting for Kogi in the forest I was approached by a wolf.I felt as though I was being drawn toward it, like it was mystical. I really wanted to pet it so I reached my hand out. As I approached my hand towards it, it suddenly attacked me. The pain was unbearable, after a bit my body gave up and I passed out. The next thing I knew I woke up with sun rays hitting my face. I got up and sat on the side of my bed, I looked around and to my surprise I was in my room when I tried to get up, I felt a sharp pain around my chest when I checked I saw blood and all the memories flooded back to me. At that moment my mom came in with a plate of a slice of bread and two hard boiled eggs. As I was about to greet her she dropped the plate and ran out of the room screaming, I immediately got up even though I was in pain. I looked around for any animals or burglar's as I looked around. I caught a glimpse of a humanoid with animal ears and tail, I went closer to the mirror and to my surprise the humanoid in the mirror was me, I was in shock I couldn't believe it. Me, a 6 year old how did this happen. In the confusion some of the government guards ran into my room trying to put me down, and before I knew what was going on I was knocked out. I woke up with a bright light blinding me. I got up and remembered what had happened. A guard entered my cell and said in a rough voice "You're going on trial, now come on!" when I stepped out another guard escorted me to the courtroom. As I entered the courtroom everyone gasped and started whispering, but I ignored them and walked on, as a child I've been to court before but there weren't this many guards. I stepped to the front and they asked me some questions, "Yami Okami do you know why you are here?." the old judge said in a grouchy voice "yes but wh-" "SILENCE!" the judge yelled cutting me off before I could finish, I immediately shut my mouth. One thing I learned from coming here is that you have to listen to the judge if you don't you'll be in big trouble. "Bring out the evidence!" he yelled out again, but instead of bringing something a little man ran up some stairs and whispered something in the judges ear and ran back down to his place. The judge cleared his throat before speaking, "Ok, so there doesn't seem to be any evidence other than the child himself. So judging by him I will discuss with the royal family and come back tomorrow with the results and lock the boy in the dongen. COURT ADJOURNED!". After I was pulled away by the guards and dragged back into my cell. The rest of the day went by really slowly and I didnt get food either. But the next morning I didn't get food again, are they trying to stave me to death or what. I was dragged back into the middle of the court, and again with the whispering. The judge took a deep breath and "SILENCE!" Everyone went silent within seconds. The judge began to speak "The king and queen have passed their judgement..." Everyone waited anxiously in silence waiting to hear what the royal family's decision was "The punishment for your crimes is BEING BANISHED INTO THE FOREST!" boomed the judge's voice. The words echoed in my head, slowly the sounds of the people in the court cheering started to fade and the only thing I could hear was I BANISH YOU TO THE FOREST over and over and over, I hadn't even done anything im only just a boy who had a run in with a wolf, why.. Why was this happening to me? The guards standing next to me dragged me out the court and out to the village. People watched gasping as the guards dragged closer and closer to the forest. As we got closer to the forest I finally regained control of my own body. I could hear a lot of footsteps behind me when I turned around I could see the whole village following us, to see what was going on . When we reached the border the guards threw me toward the forest. I got up, dusted myself off and looked at the crowd of people. I saw my parents, they were not crying or sad, they only nodded their head in disappointment, with a disgusted face they turned around and walked away, not even to take a final look at their son. As I stared at all the people leaving, turning away without looking back, not even giving a year old pity for having to live alone in the forest. All just because I have animal features. One by one everyone left, I was left sitting at the edge of the forest alone, only one thing came to mind that night and I said it gritting my teeth in anger "The government WILL go down."

It's been 3 years now, and i'm 12 now. On the night I was left I started to wander the forest for a few hours, it started raining. It was really cold and I was really tired so I collapsed in the dirt from the lack of food. When I woke up I was surrounded by wolves trying to keep me warm. Without them I wouldn't be alive right now, and i'm very thankful for that. Anyway back to the present, I was on my way to the black market. On my way I saw a batch of new slaves that were going to be sold in the market. But in the midst I saw someone familiar I turned to see who it was. I looked at the person I scraped at my brain to figure out who it was, then I realised Kogi. The anger consumed me, I turned. I couldn't do anything about it...
