Chapter 3 Kogi

Hi my name is Kogi myuto. I was born into a noble family, so I had no problem getting what I wanted. You might think it's all great and all but, as I got older my parents got stricter with me on my manners, my grades and other things. All because nobles are supposed to be very smart. One day while I was playing in my father's study, I found a book . I took it to show my best friend, Yami in the forest. When we started to read the book it was filled with things like the black market where the government sells illegal things. We thought it was best to keep it hidden from others, and hid it near the big tree in the forest. A few days later some government officials came to my house and they took away my dad yelling "how could you lose that book you know how important it was!!". That night my father came home at night, when he did he looked so tired and drained. My mother went up to him to ask him what had happened. When he was done explaining what had happened, my mother started to weep. My father did not pay attention to her, he just went up the stairs. I silently approached my mother asking her what was going on, but she quickly turned around slapping my hand away angrily piercing my soul with her eyes, yelling "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, MISTAKE!!!" Then she stormed off up stairs. I stood there for a while confused, was it because I wasn't good enough? Soon my question was answered, at night my father was visited by a strange looking man. They went to his study and my mother looked anxious. Soon after they came back and imperial guards came. Then he pointed at me "That's him, he's the one who took the book. Take him away." The guards then picked me up and took me away. I did not resist, I couldn't because my father negotiated to use me to bail him from his problems. They took me away in a cage connected to a chariot. The cage was usually used for picking up slaves, then I realised what was going to happen. As I rode away from what used to be my home and took one last look at my parents they looked as if they didn't have one shred of regret. They took me to a slave trading place, I knew I was not going to be getting out anytime soon, people who go into the slave trade, they never come out again. Everyday I wake up in the morning and start working out in the fields or other places. It's been a few years now I've gotten used to how they do things here. One day while I was taking some grain to the grain house I tripped and spilt it all on the floor, a guard started yelling at me. I tried not to look at him, but that was a mistake. He got angry and started lifting me up by my throat and started to choke me, my throat burned . When the guard was finally satisfied he let go. I wheezed trying to breathe but fainted instead. The next thing I know I woke up in my cell. I tried to call my friend in the cell next to mine, I tried calling but nothing came out. I struggled to speak but couldn't say a word even though my mouth was wide open. My friend heard me struggle and told me what had happened "After you passed out we took you to a doctor...he said that you won't be able to speak anymore. Your vocal cords were crushed when that guard choked you. He said the damage beyond repair... not even with magic." I couldn't believe it, I will never be able to speak. A tear slipped down my cheek and more came with it, I couldn't stop. I cried the whole night.

It's been a few years, I'm 11 now. Now I've adjusted to my new lifestyle without my voice. One day while we were being loaded into the cages, the guards got really anxious and started yelling for us to get into the cage faster. In the panic I felt someone pick me up. I couldn't see who it was until we were away from the guards and in the forest. The person seemed to stop, putting me down. I finally got to see they're face,I recognised him from somewhere. Then it hit me, all the times I played under that big tree in the forest with a boy. "I'm gonna live in a castle when I grow up." Yami had said. "What about me?" I asked "Well you can be my Prince." The promise, my eyes filled with tears and I jumped onto Yami hugging him. He was shocked but hugged me back tight whispering, "Welcome back my prince."
