Touch Down

As I go to grab my bags I hear a giddy squeal coming from my right. "Alice!" the voice yells as my best friend comes over and hugs me. "Mara!" I yell back as I squeeze the blonde tightly. I met Mara years ago on Instagram. We both commented the same thing on Robert Irwin's post and have been best friends ever since. After coming over from New York every 6 months, we've decided to move in together! We walk to the car and drive to the house. On our way, we pass Australia Zoo. "Just think Alice, your husband is somewhere in there" Mara laughs as I stare out the window. I giggle replying, "I guess we'll find out Monday." I start an internship at the animal hospital then. Steve has always been an inspiration to me and to work at the place he built. We get home and I go to my room. The navy blue room covered in band posters and Crikey Magazine covers and.... a Robert Irwin picture. "M, did you do this?" "I figured it be a nice surprise waking up to that picture everyday." "I love it! Thank you!" we hug and then she goes back to her bedroom. I get changed and wash my makeup off my face. I sigh, realizing that I probably can't wear that face at work. The black lipstick and orange eye shadow will have to wait for my day off. At least, I get to keep my purple hair and nose ring.  I lay down and look at my phone and see a notification that made me squeal.....
