Cat & Dog ; Shizaya

— Chapter 3

DREAMING WAS A weird thing, if you thought about it. You couldn't control what you dreamt about. It was a series of thoughts, images, and sensations you were unaware of and couldn't control. And maybe that's why you couldn't really blame Shizuo nor Izaya for what they were currently dreaming about.

But what were they dreaming about, you ask? They were dreaming about each other. Yes. That's what they were dreaming about… each other.

Crazy? Yes. Yes, it was. It didn't even matter if they couldn't control their dreams. It was still crazy that they were dreaming of each other.

But for both of the men, it wasn't just that. Crazy, nor was it a surprise. Not really. Because admittedly, it wasn't the first time they had dreamed about each other. But neither of them knew that, except from themselves, of course.

And of course being enemies was the main reason they hadn't shared their dreams with each other. It was odd in it's own rights, because of course, both men knew they shouldn't of been dreaming of each other, as friends or otherwise.

It just wasn't right, and both of the men knew that… Or was it?

Because like Shinra and Celty had noticed, the both of them had been getting along with each other perfectly fine. But that's the thing, neither of them had spoken to each other outside of their usual enemy feuding. In other words, they didn't speak or act civilly to each other. About anything. At any times of the day. Full stop.

But it wasn't only Shinra and Celty that was surprised about all of this. Izaya and Shizuo was, too. But what had changed in their relationship, and why? They couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was, and what was happening between them. But the more concerning question was… why didn't either of them mind? Why wasn't it bothering them as much as it should of done, because it should of done, right?

Yes, it should of done. It really should of done. So why wasn't it? And was the underlying problem at hand clouding their worries and current concerning questions?

Because the worry of never being changed back into humans from a cat or dog should of been the biggest worry, but neither of them had really given it much thought. Was it because Shizuo and Izaya was somehow enjoying this whole experience, or was it because this was no different from their daily lives? Ikebukuro was a weird place, full of weird people, and many weird occurrences always happened here.

So what was it that wasn't worrying Izaya and Shizuo about the fact the both of them were getting along—

Shizuo jolted awake from his sleep, his eyes flickering open, and he immediately smelt the scent of… a cat?

The blonde looked down in confusion, his eyes heavy with sleep. A frown appeared on his furry forehead, because as he looked down upon himself, he realised he really was a dog, and it wasn't a dream he had just woken up from. And if he had dreamt - and of course, he had of Izaya - the dream never had imprinted itself on his conscious mind. Meaning he didn't remember anything about it. He didn't remember the info broker skipping through his sleepy mind, furry coat and raven hair, and all.

Shizuo blinked away sleep, and looked around, searching for a clock. He must of only been sleeping for a few minutes, because honestly he still felt exhausted, and the sun was still shining through the glass window of the bedroom. And that's when he felt something crawling underneath him. He shifted and moved slightly, and out popped Izaya's head.

Shizuo blinked in shock, and looked around. He wasn't dreaming. Izaya wasn't beside him. He was awake and underneath him. But how? When? “What are you doing?” The blonde questioned, his head tilted to the side.
