We were looking at the missing posters that were hung out everywhere around town. There had been a perade in the street for the Fourth of July festival. Richie was bothering one of the band members, trying to play his saxophone.

We saw Eddie Corcoran's missing posters hung to the brick wall of the Barber Shop. "They say they found part of his hand chewed up by the standpipe." Stan said. "He asked to borrow a pencil once.." Ben sighed. (So sorry for your loss, Ben.. you're so strong😪)

Bill walked up to the poster, seeing something else it's been covering. He lifted it up to reveal a poster of Betty. "I-It's like she's been for-forgotten because Corcoran's missing." Bill stuttered. He let the poster drop back down. I began to bite the inside of my lip. "Is it ever gonna end?" Stan asked.

Richie was still messing with the band player. The guy got tired of him and snatched his saxophone back. "What the fuck, dude?" Richie flapped his hands in the air. Eddie came back with ice creams in his hands. "What you guys talking about?" Eddie asked handing me and Richie a cone. "What they always talk about." Richie exclaimed. "Thanks." I said to Eddie as he gave me my ice cream. "I actually think it will end. For a little while, atleast." Ben said. "What do you mean?" Beverly asked.

"So I was going over all my Derry research and I chatted out all the big events. The Itonworks explosion in 1908, the Bradley Gang in '35, and The Black Spot in '62, and now kids being.." he stopped himself looking up and Bill and I.

"I realized this stuff seems to happen-" "every 27 years" Bill talked over.

"Alright, so let me get this straight, (you can't do anything straight, my guy😹) it comes out from wherever to eat kids for like a year? And then what? It just goes into hibernation?" Eddie repeated. "Maybe it's like- what do you call it? Cicadas. You know, the bugs that come out once every 17 years?" Stan questioned.

"My grandfather thinks this town is cursed." Mike chimes in. "He says that all the bad things in this town are because of one thing. An evil thing, that feeds off the people of Derry." Mike told us. "But it can't be one thing." Stan denied. "We all saw something different." "Maybe. Or maybe it knows what scares us the most and that's what we see." Mike guessed. "I-I saw a leper. He was like a walking infection." Eddie said.

"But you didn't." Stan refused to believe it was real. He always had to have explanations for things. Otherwise, he'd tell himself it's not real. "Because it isn't real. None of this is. Not Eddie's lepor, or Bill seeing Georgie, Y/n seeing Betty, or the woman I-I keep seeing." "She hot?" Richie smiled. I chuckled a little. "No, Richie. She's not hot!" Stan angrily replied. His smile began to fade. "Her face is all messed up." Stan looked down.

"None of this makes any sense!" Stan cried. "They're all like bad dreams." "I don't think so. I know the difference between a bad dream and real life, okay?" Mike disagreed. "What'd you see? You saw something too?" Eddie asked.

"Yes." "Do you guys know that burned down house on Harris Avenue? I was inside when it burned down. Before I was rescued, my mom and dad were trapped in the next room over from me. They were pushing and pounding on the door. Trying to get to me. But it was too hot. When the firemen finally found them the skin on their hands had melted down to the bone." He explained.

"We're all afraid of something." Mike said. "Got that right." Richie laughed. "Why, Rich? What are you afraid of?" Eddie asked. Richie seemed to have gotten nervous by that question. As if he regretted saying that. A joke that no one would ever get. A joke that could ruin his life if he explained it to anyone. His hands had started to shake. He slowly turned around adjusting his glasses. Looked as if he were thinking. "Clowns."
