Chapter : 19 🦄

4 years later ..

Lani slouched on the couch as she tried her best to keep her eyes open .

"Mama you ok?" Jaylani looked towards her mother who was out of it and even a blind man could tell .

"I'm fine jay, I thought I told you to go to yo room?" Lani voiced

Every since Kam passed Lani wasn't the same person , she was more aggressive , easily triggered and violent .

"I'm just worried about you" Jaylani voice cracked .

Jaylani was now seven years old and understood everything that went on around her .

Jaycee wasn't there to comfort her either , he had been in prison for the past three years .

"I'm just tired" Lani couldn't even look Jaylani in her eyes.

Lani knew what she was doing was wrong but she had nobody else besides Jaylani ..

Once Kam passed away she got hooked on a different type of high , she tried anything to take the pain away and weed wasn't strong enough .

Jaylani sighed as she stood up from the couch and went inside her bedroom ..

If she wasn't at school she spent most of her time in here.

Lani no longer resides in L.A so she couldn't find time to be around her uncles and aunties .. or even her cousins most times they talk through FaceTime .

Lani moved to Chicago , the part where the drug rate was high and she could easily be supplied with what she needed ..

Lani head turned from the door knob being turned and Janai which was her former best friend came through the door .

"Jaylani, TT here" Janae yelled up the stairs before walking all the way in.

Lani rolled her eyes knowing Janae was about to chew her head off for being high.

"What you got going on?" Janae sat on the edge of the couch

"Not shit,I'm tired" Lani tried hiding her face

"I know you fucking lying" Janae stood up

"Is you high right now? Dude Jaylani is around" Janae snatched the cover back

"Gone Nae , I don't wanna hear that shit" Lani waved her off .

"What the fuck you mean? I'm tired of sparing yo feelings this shit getting way to outta hand" Janae shook her head ..

"Girl all you do is point fingers and judge the next motherfucker like you got yo shit  together and everything is peaches and cream" Lani stood up but quickly fell back down..

"I might not have my shit together right now but at least I don't get high in front of my child, look at you can't even stand the fuck up" Janae retorted back pointing her fingers in Lani face.
