The Party

The party was being thrown to celebrate all of that year's twelve year olds last day as mere students. The following day was Career Day. The day when we would discover the Careers we were destined for, and would become Apprentices for.

Of course, Destiny doesn't have all the say in that decision. It also has to do with our likes and talents. For example, our eldest sister Megan, is a very kind and intelligent person who specializes in Healing Magic. She is now happily working as a Doctor in the Universal Hospital..

My twin sister Treana is a total natural at combat, combined with her Summoning Magic, she was going to become a Warrior with no question about it.

The same goes for my little sister Cookyana, or Cookie as everyone calls her. She can never stay in one place for too long, and she is an uncanny master at Speed Magic. There's no doubt in anyone's mind that she was gonna become a Traveller.

The only one who could even remotely relate to me was my youngest sister Levana. She didn't know what she wanted to be unlike most other kids her age, but she had dreams and ambitions so I doubt that would be the case for long.

I however, had no idea about what I wanted to be. I can't perform Healing Magic. Everything I usually touch dies or is seriously injured so Doctor is out of the question. I prefer staying at home curled up in my bed so there goes the option of Traveller. I often spar with Treana and she says that I'm a good fighter, but I have no social skills. Team work is so important to the Warriors so I doubt I'd stay there for long. Other than that the only thing I was ever really good at was Dark Magic...well I would think that's self explanatory.

Despite all that my sisters and my mother always told me that when the day came I would know exactly what I wanted and was destined to be. So I would sigh and agreed to let Treana drag me to that stupid party.

Treana and I both have long brown hair, mine being much longer however. Everyone says that we look exactly the same, us being identical twins and all but we don't see it. Much. We just like the rest of our family took the appearance of humans from Earth. Other than that we couldn't be more different.

She's a real...fashionista. She loves shopping and dresses and her hair. It took her quite a while to get ready for the party. She was wearing a yellow t-shirt with blue jean shorts. Her hair was tied back with one of the Milewn Silk and Fabric clothing pieces she made. Treana harvested the Milewn web needed to make the silk herself and made all five of us sisters something.

She gave me a scarf that I love and wear all the time, including to the party. My hair was tied back as well, and I wore a black shirt with ripped jeans.

I crossed my arms as we walked through the streets of the Universal City.

"Why did I agree to come with you? You know how much I hate parties. And how much parties hate me." I complained.

Treana smiled. "Well, maybe if you actually come out and go to some parties you wouldn't feel that way."

I shook my head. "No. I doubt that."

"Don't worry it'll be fine." Treana assured me.

"People don't like me T. You know that." I replied.

"People can be stupid but they're not all bad." Treana said.

I sighed. "Fine. Whatever."

Treana smiled. "Good. Now c'mon before all the treats are gone!"

I groaned and looked over my shoulder and saw a tall man standing in the shadows of a nearby alley. Several people passed by the alley and didn't give the man a second look. It looked like he was watching us. Specifically me. A second after I caught sight of him he stepped back and disappeared into the darkness.

"Hey! Treana did you see him?" I exclaimed.

Treana turned and looked where I was pointing and shook her head.

"No. Why? Did you see someone?" She asked.

"Yeah! It was a guy! Standing in the alley!" I explained.

"Hm. Well, maybe you're just seeing things again sis." Treana replied and continued to walk on while I stared at the alley for a few more moments before turning and following my sister. I often saw things like that. It was mostly people similar to that man. In the shadows and all that. I've told people but no one besides me ever sees them.

It took us five minutes to reach the party after that. We could hear long before we saw it though. The music and the kids attending were both really loud. Treana and I made our ways through the forest. As we came into the sight of some of the patrons of the party, they turned and screamed.

"Treana! You made it!" One of the girls, Launa, screamed as she ran over to my sister. They hugged. "And, your sister."

I was attempting a very poor attempt at hiding in plain sight. The only problem was the fact that I was in plain sight.

"Yeah. You said everyone in this year's Career class can come." Treana replied.

Launa looked at Treana then back at me and put on a smile. "Sure. Of course. That is what I said. C'mon then."

I sighed and walked behind Launa and my sister. When we made it over to the rest of the crowd, Treana immediately began talking with everyone. Laughing.

I smiled at my sister being happy and walked over to the edge of the party clearing. I took a drink and fruit cup from the food table and sat by a tree.

I watched all the kids dance, act stupid, and socialize. Everyone took on the forms of a different species but they all got along. Except with me.

I picked up the fruit cup and began emptying it of its contents. Then I saw my sister run over to me. Without saying a word she grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the dance floor.

"Hey! Treana!" I exclaimed.

"C'mon! Dance sis!" Treana replied when we were in the middle of the crowd.

I shook my head and tried to walk away but Treana just pulled me back.

"Dreana! Dance!" She ordered.

I sighed and began moving my feet. Then as I continued listening to the fast music, my feet moved faster. Then I was moving my arms. Next thing I knew I could actually pass for someone dancing.

"That's it!" Someone shouted behind me. It was Launa.

I smiled. Treana nudged me and then she and I began dancing in sync. We danced happily for a few minutes. Then suddenly, a wave of hot energy passed through my body. It went by quick but it strong enough to knock me off my feet.

"D! Are you okay?" Treana exclaimed as she ran over to me on the ground.

I rubbed my aching head and thought. I've felt that before. Only when...

"Treana! Everyone has to get out of here now!" I shouted.

"What? Why?" She demanded as I began to stand back up.

Before I could reply, a girl screamed from the edge of the clearing. Everyone turned to where the scream came from.

Coming out from the shadows of the trees, was a wolf. It was giant violet wolf who seemed to have shadows seeping from its jaw. It's glowing red eyes glared at the children in the clearing.

"A demon." I spoke.
