{Prologue}
"Now listen, children, as I tell you the story of the moon," The chief says as he throws powder into the fire. The flames blaze into blue and green. The children in the hut look into the fire as the chief goes on with his tale. "Our lands used to be dark till the great god of light brightened our skies, he made the plants stronger with his light, and gave the great people of our tribe fire. But children, even gods must rest, and so when he begins to get tired his light starts to fade making the dark consume the lands once again."
"How did we get the moon then?" One of the children questions. The chief chuckles seeing how eager the children are to hear the ancient story. Curious and amazed faces staring at him, encouraging him to speak on.
"Yes, what did the god of light do? He did not want the people of the lands to go without light, he gave them fire but fire can not last forever and can be dangerous. As the great god pondered he looked down and saw two men standing on the beach. One full of great pride and arrogance, Seokjun, the other thoughtful and selfless, Seokjin. Seokjun was always jealous of his younger brother, so that day Seokjun did a great sin," The chief paused to create more tension. The children looked terrified but also greatly curious wanting to know the great sin. "Seokjun drowned his brother in the ocean."
The children gasped in horror, one of them let out a little cry as a tear came down his face.
"The god of light so shocked by this began to weep, the skies became full of gray clouds, pouring rain, his light turning into lightning and thunder. Using his great powers he pulls the young man's body out of the ocean, 'For being so kind I will give you my light to guide people in the dark. As a punishment to the cruel I shall give you the power of the ocean, to take and give life.' And just as the great god commanded Seokjin became our light, the bright and kind moon. Seokjin filled the ocean with life, and if we want to eat from it, then we have to risk our lives."
The children of the tribe thank the chief for the wonderful story, before they run off to their own tents and huts in the meadow.
One child still sits by the fire, his arms wrapped around his legs as he holds them close to his chest. He has his chin on his knees contemplating as he looks into the blue fire.
"What is it son?" The chief asks.
"Father, why did Seokjun kill Seokjin?" The young one asks.
The chief gives his son a small smile before walking toward him, gesturing for him to follow out of the hut.
Both now looking up to the stars, the young boy sees how lovely the moon is, the pale light shining down on his home. The meadow and the forest surrounding them seem to be more beautiful than in the daylight.
"Jealousy can drive men and women to do anything, Namjoon. We'll never truly know what Seokjun was jealous of, but know that all people's lives matter, murder is a great sin." The chief says looking down at his son with great fondness.
Namjoon looks up to his father and smiles, "That's why you're the chief dad! You're kind and strong, and you do what's right!"
"One day Namjoon you will take my place, and when that time comes I know you will be even kinder and stronger than even I."
