The heart monitor was going crazy, doctors were frantically running around her, before one rushed me out before disappearing back behind the door. I didn't even make it two steps before I fell to my knees and began to pray. I prayed that she, and the two newest additions would make it. She was doing trial pushes when it all went wrong; her breathing began to be labored. She was beginning the fade away from me; Away from the world that deserved anything less than her.
I finished my prayer, hoping that the big man upstairs could perform this miracle that I so desperately needed; and made my way to the waiting room slowly. I sat and put my head in my hands, and decided to put all my faith in his hands. He will do what is right, and I have to trust and believe in that.
-present time- Carters' POV
I woke up out of a dead sleep in a panic, I looked to where Jaylyn should have been but was not. That was the worst dream I have ever had since being with her, what's even worse is at one point it was a reality that has haunted me since it happened. I can remember the day as if it was yesterday, but it was actually a year and a half ago now.
-back to past time- Carter
Jaylyn was giving birth to our twins. We were so excited when we found out that they were one boy, and one girl. Everything was great up until she had hit 7 months. We were preparing for bed, and she started having very bad back pains and was unable to do anything more than sit. I immediately rang her doctor, and had been told to call 9-1-1 cause she shouldn't have been experiencing those. After all that and while on the phone with them, I ran around the house getting things together, by this point James was worried and trying to soothe Jaylyn while I did.
We arrived at the hospital, and They said Jaylyn was in early labor, and that they needed to stop it as soon as possible because if not we could lose one or both of the babies. I let them do their work while Consoling Jaylyn who thought she had done something wrong to cause this and was sobbing uncontrollably. A little while later they got things under control, but said they were not sure how long they could keep them in there so they wanted us to stay in the hospital until they were born.
Exactly one month to the day later the pains started up again, the doctors had taken Jaylyn off the medicine a few days ago saying that it should be okay now. We were excited because in a few hours we would be meeting our twins, little did we know God had another plan in store.
-hours later-
Jaylyn had been in active labor now for at least 13 hours, and was finally told she could do some trial pushes for practice. She was on her second one when she all of a sudden grabbed her stomach and screamed worse than I'd ever heard her. Her doctor and nurses were now running around in a panicked cluster, and then I got put out. I knew something was wrong and the only thing I knew to do was pray.
-back to present time-
I moved out of bed and went on a search for Jaylyn through the house. I found her in the twins room, sitting in the rocking chair with both of them sleeping on her chest and her eyes shut. It was a sight to behold, so I snapped a quick picture without disturbing them. Yes thankful to this day they survived. We named them Calia Faith, and Waylind James. I went over the where she sat and placed a light kiss on her forehead, her eyes slowly fluttered open and she smiled tiredly. "You okay babe?" she asked quietly. "I got scared and couldn't find you, I had another dream about "the day". I replied. I looked at the sleeping babies in her arms and smiled to myself. "Lets get these guys back into their beds so you can come back with me." I said before carefully picking Calia up from her chest. We put them back in their cribs, and went to lie back down. After we got settled back into bed, I pulled Jaylyn closer to me. "I love you ya know that right?" I asked her. "Yes of course." she replied. And with that we fell asleep.
The next morning I woke before she did due to hearing the twins crying. I went to get them before they could wake her, taking them downstairs I got them settled after changing them to get them fed. Thankfully Jaylyn pumps before she goes to bed each night. After they ate I put them into their bouncy seats, then proceeded to make Jaylyn and I breakfast. I decided i would surprise her in bed with it this morning so she could rest. Being married to her 3 years later is still the best thing, We still live in the house, James is around and is the best grandpa to them. As for Macie and Bryce, they moved out a year ago once we had the twins; and now have a little boy of their own. After Breakfast was complete I got it ready, checked the twins once more before heading up to Jaylyn. She was just beginning to wake up as I walked in the room. "Morning babe, I made you a little something." I said smiling as I sat the tray of food on her lap. She gave me her half morning smile, and a kiss thanking me in the mix. I left her to be and start her day peacefully while I went back to the twins downstairs. I turned on some cartoons for them even though I knew they couldn't understand them just yet. Jaylyn came down a short while later and joined me on the sofa after giving the twins good morning kisses.
I'll never know or understand how I became so lucky to live this life, but I will forever be grateful. God could have decided to take my world home that day, but by some miracle he did not.
