Maka's P.O.V

"...Got any three's?" I ask the symmetrical boy that sat across the table from me. His golden gaze was narrowed, focused on his deck. He sat with perfect posture, his right leg crossed as he tapped his chin, pouting due to concentration. His suit was neatly tucked and ironed, not a single hair out of place on his head. As for me, I sat in my usual house wear-- a pair of sweats and a slouchy knitted top, way too baggy for my small form. My right arm held my head up, as I slouched, bored out of my mind as Kid continued to give various ' hmm's ' every minute or so. I tapped my fingers on the marble counter impatiently, beginning to get annoyed by his patience.

After about a whole five minutes, he looked towards me and replied, " No. I don't. Go fish. "

" It took you five minutes just to look for a card you don't even have? Oi vey." I grumbled, as I reached for a card.

I heard the door swing open, Liz stumbling through the entrance as Patty pulled on her older sisters hand energetically.

I blinked, putting my cards face down on the kitchen table as Kid and I both hopped off of the high stools that stood near the table.

" Where have you two been? I told you to meet me back at Maka's apartment after you were done shopping at 2:30! It's 3:00. " Kid scolded the Thompson sisters for being so tardy.

" Sorry, Kid. We were going to make it in time, but we walked passed a pet store and Patty got a little.. Erhm, carried away. " Liz replied half-heartedly, looking down at her energetic younger sister.

" Awh, but Kid, the kitties were just soo cute! And I couldn't resist the little puppies too!" Patty whined as Kid gave a small 'hmph', shaking his head at the two. Though it didn't look like a tough scolding, more like a cute little ' oh, you scamps ' kind of scolding.

" Maka, where's Soul? He's always around you every time I see him. " Liz walked away from the two bickering weapon and meister, heading towards me.

" Oh, he went out to the movies with Black Star.Tsubaki promised to look after those two bakas. " I gave a laugh, fixing my two ponytails, " They should be back around-- " I looked at my phone, " Now, actually. Tsubaki just texted me saying she'd be right over with Soul and Black Star. The movie just ended five minutes ago. "

Suddenly, the trio burst through the door, Tsubaki scolding the two for making such a loud entrance shortly after, in a quiet tone, " Sorry, Maka. They're all riled up from the movie we saw. " She bowed formally.

" it's fine, Tsubaki. I know how Soul can get under the influence of Black Star. " I shot him a glare, which he returned with his signature shark tooth grin. He flopped onto our couch, not even greeting Kid, Liz, Patty and I. Typical Soul.

" Well, we better get going. Liz, Patty and I need to make dinner. " Kid gave a wave, looking at all of us. " Come along girls, we need to be at home. On time. " He walked out the door, the Thompson sisters following shortly behind.

" Bye-Bye!~ " Patty gave a high-pitched giggle, waving towards everyone as Liz dragged her away.

" Black Star and I better head home too. I need to help him study for that test we have tomorrow. " Tsubaki gave a gentle wave, " See you two tomorrow! " She walked out, coaxing Black Star over.

" The great Black Star is coming, Tsubaki! " The blue-haired boy boasted, jogging off and shutting the door.

" It's your turn to cook, by the way. " I threw a pillow at the white-haired boy who sat on the couch, flipping through the channels. " And instant Ramen doesn't count as a meal. " I chided, adding.

" Fine, fine. I'll come up with something. " He grumbled, fixing his headband after the pillow hit.

I gave a laugh, walking off down the corridor, towards my room at the end. I swung open the door, closing it tightly after. I opened up my drawer, my clothes neatly in place. I reached over and slid my hand under my neatly folded panties, pulling out my Pocky stash. I quickly changed, throwing off my sweats due to the mid-summer heat. I decided to slip on thigh-high socks, since I was in my room anyway. The sweater was baggy enough to cover my panties, so why the hell not? I munched on the strawberry-coated stick, getting a bit tired. I slid under the covers, having already eaten the rest of the stick a few moments ago. I yawned, falling into a light sleep.

After everyone left, and Maka had been in her room a while, I quickly changed into some comfortable clothing. I decided to put on a simple baggy white t-shirt, and I just kept my boxers on. The heat was bothering me already. I headed towards the kitchen, in hopes of finding something to cook. I rummaged through the fridge, finding there was practically no food. Damnit, we needed groceries. I decided to scavenge through the pantry, when something caught my eye. Pancake mix? Maka loves pancakes.. Sure, what the hell. I snatched the pancake mix, beginning to make the tasty soft delicacies. Soon i drizzled the batter onto the pancake iron, pressing down the top. I looked out the window that sat above our sink, a great view casting over Death City. I heaved a sigh, groaning at the heat. I couldn't take it anymore, damn. I struggled to take off my shirt, grumbling as I finally got it off. I plopped it into the laundry hamper, leaving me in my boxers. 'I hope Maka doesn't wake up to find me half-naked. Though that would be pleasu- holddd on there Soul. Don't get too carried away. Maka is just your Meister. That's it. Even if you did like her, she wouldn't like you back in that way... Or would she?' My thoughts were shortly cut off by the loud beeping that was our smoke detector. I looked over towards the pancake iron, smoke coming from the top.

" Shit! Shit shit shit! " I yelped, running around frantically, pressing a whole bunch of buttons on the stove.

" Soul? What the hell are you doing you Baka? " Maka jogged over, pressing a few buttons and turning the stove off calmly. She turned the fan to a lower volume, and then grabbed a tea towel. She fanned the top of the pancake iron, the smoke no longer going up near the smoke detector, making the beeping stop.

" Pancakes for dinner? Soul, what am I going to do with you? You are-- " She stopped mid-sentence, staring at me.

I looked down to where she was looking, which was my boxers. Shit. I forgot.

" I was.. The heat.. Summer.. My clothes were too, Uhm.. Hot.. " I stammered like an idiot, rubbing the back of my head as I gave a nervous laugh.

" N-nevermind. Just go put on clothes you pervert! " Maka's face burned as she looked away, walking off towards the couch and slumping down.

I know that was uncool of me, but was Maka just blushing... At me?
