Clingy Taehyungie in da hooouse!

In which Taehyung is uncomfortable with everyone. Every friendship, every relationship, even with his adoptive family. Until he finds someone who finally sets him at ease.

*this was originally going to be a mini arc in Issues but I’m feeling lazy I may do it later.

Taehyung sat in his room silently, staring up at his ceiling. It wasn’t really his. It was the spare room in his “parent’s” house. He was originally supposed to live with his new “brother” but he didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in the same room as him. The last time he ever felt comfortable with anyone was with his true family.

After the fire happened, Taehyung wouldn’t feel complete or comfortable with anyone ever again. He missed his closely knit family dearly. He missed his parents and his brother. He missed his parents. He missed his dog.

When was the last time he truly felt happy? A small tear fell. Yesterday he had forgotten what his parents sounded like for a split second and was so angry at himself. He cried and screamed before going to his voice memos to hear his parent’s voices. He didn’t want to ever forget them. Taking out his phone and looking at the last happy picture he had of his family. Softly brushing his finger on the picture, more tears fell.

Of course he was grateful for the Park family taking him in, but they weren’t his family. They would never be his family. Letting his hand fall from over his head, he slowly cradled his phone against his chest; the dim light from the open photo highlighting the tears on his cheeks.

The door creaked from behind him. Quickly wiping his face with his arm, Taehyung shut off his phone and turned to see his “brother”, smiling at him. Giving him an awkwardly forced smile back, he sat up on the bed. “Taehyung you’ve been in here for a while… I’m going to meet my friends in a bit. Do you wanna come?”

Taehyung wanted to politely refuse, but Jimin was quick to reason with him. “Listen, you don’t really have… many good relationships and if you can’t be friends with me- I want my…” Jimin paused, “...Brother to be happy. If you can’t be happy with me at least with someone else!” He pleaded.

As much as he knew Jimin had good intentions, Taehyung just couldn’t bring himself to feel comfortable around him. He tried, fuck he tried to feel comfortable around Jimin. He was pure and kind but he just couldn’t. Jimin was still trying though. Taehyung could see how hard he was trying after years of being blocked by Taehyung’s walls.

Might as well make him feel somewhat happy for a bit.

“Sure. Who’s going?” He asked lowly, Jimin shrugged in response. “Five. Yoongi, Hobi, Joon, Jin, and Guk.”

Taehyung looked up at him blankly before Jimin realized and sheepishly gave him the real names instead of nicknames.

Not really knowing what he got himself into, Taehyung found himself outside in the cold winter with Jimin in front of a quaint cafe. Walking inside, Taehyung couldn’t bring himself to smile at the soft fairy lights strung across the walls, the aesthetic vibe from everything, and the cute throw pillows on couches strewn around.

But of course Taehyung couldn’t appreciate it. He could only remember the time he’d taken his little brother to a cute cafe just like this. The excitement his brother had as he grabbed his hand in his small one, asking him for a cookie with the brightest smile once Taehyung had nodded. Feeling the familiar prickling of tears he sniffled to himself and wiped his eyes.

“You okay?” Jimin asked as soon as he heard. Taehyung stiffened and gave a curt nod, not looking at the other.

“I… My friends are at the table in the back. Let’s go.”
