Otabek POV
Yuri. What was I going to do about that kid? I thought as I sipped the coffee. I leaned back in the chair. She came strutting in like some goddamn queen. I was really beginning to hate her. Her cold smile stretched her lips upon seeing me.
“So, you skate.” Was her way of saying hi.
“Yeah.” I stated eyeing her. She stood above me. I didn’t stand, didn’t blink just watched her. Finally she sank to the edge of the chair.
“When will it be done?” she demanded. I chuckled.
“All in good time. I have until March right?” I asked knowing the truth.
“No. Until February. He turns sixteen March first.” She eyed a couple that came close to our table.
“Why do you want me to do this to him?” I asked. Then I leaned forward. “Why am I killing the kid you raised as a son for the last two years? Why before his birthday?” Her beady eyes narrowed.
“I thought you didn’t ask questions.” She scoffed. I leaned back.
“This one intrigues me. I don’t normally murder children.”
“The reasons are my own. Now do what I hired you for.” She stood in a fluid motion. The sign of her younger days as the primary ballerina. She looked down her crooked nose. “He is insignificant.” I felt my blood heat at this. Did she even know Yuri? She walked away as I seethed with an expressionless face. Standing I drained the last of my coffee. Tossing the cup away, I turned waking out to where I left my bike. I swung on it, pulling my phone out. Sure enough I had a text from Yuri. Today he was doing his extra leg day. He wanted to know if I was picking him up. ‘On my way.’ I sent the text. Starting the bike, I turned to head to the rink
What am I to do about Yuri? I thought. I knew one thing, I wasn’t ready to end his life. The image of him naked before me, getting ready to shower last week, sprang into my head. He wasn’t a child. I wondered if he ever had been. That's when something struck me. I smirked to myself. I knew what we were going to do today.
When I pulled up to the rink, he was waiting outside for me. He had his hands shoved deep into his jacket pockets. It seemed fall came overnight. It was already October. Six months and she wanted him dead. I bit back the bile rising in my mouth. Stopping before him he glared at me.
“Took your sweet ass time didn't you!” He growled. I laughed.
“Sorry, ran into an old acquaintance of mine.” Lying came easy to me now. Yet, with him I hated every second of it. I held out his helmet. He put it on before using my shoulder to help him get on the back of my bike. I took off as soon as he was settled.
It wasn’t a long drive to the next town. Less than twenty miles. A part of me thought he probably never went that far. I drove along the somewhat busy streets. As we got closer to my destination the traffic picked up. A few people honked at me since I was on a motorcycle. I didn’t do anything, since I was used to idiots thinking that since they were in a car they were better than me. Yuri was a different beast altogether.
He yelled at people, flipped them off and generally showed how little he was enjoying this. A white Camry swung up to an open spot beside us. They came a bit close. Yuri kicked the car. I chuckled shaking my head.
“Will you just relax?” I yelled at him.
“I don’t like them getting so close!” he screamed at me. “What are we doing any way?”
“It’s a surprise. Don’t worry you will like it.” I called over my shoulder. We drove up to the gates. I paid for both of us. Putting the parking sticker on the tank of the bike. I followed the people waving wands to indicate where to park. Sliding in beside a few other bikes I shut mine off. Yuri sat there for a moment.
“What is this?” he asked. I turned so I could see him out of the corner of my eye.
“A town carnival.” I told him. He slipped off, removing his helmet.
“Why?” he asked looking at me blankly. I shrugged as I locked the helmets up.
“I thought it would be fun.” I smiled at him. He looked worried. “You do know what fun is right?” I asked him. Those deep green eyes flashed to me. Laughing I dropped my arm to his shoulders. “Come on. I'll keep you safe.” I dragged him with me into the line that led inside the park area.
His eyes darted over the food stands, games and rides. I went to withdrawal my arm but his hand caught my wrist. I smiled but he didn’t see it. Slipping my hand back I caught his fingers.
“What’s that?” he asked pointing to the cotton candy.
“Sugar.” I winked dragging him over I bought a bag. He had to release my hand so I could pay. Once I gave him the bag I hooked my thumb into the belt loop on his pants.
“Oh my God this is gross but good at the same time. How is that?” I chuckled snitching some from the bag.
“You never had cotton candy before?” he shook his head. The blond hair flipped down blocking his face from me. Gently I pushed it back behind his ear, noting the pink in his cheeks.
“Let’s play a few games.” This proved to be a bad suggestion as Yuri got mad at them. To help him I came up behind him. We played the dart game to pop balloons. I moved his arm, telling him when to release the dart. We won a giant tiger by the time he was done. The smile on his face as he hugged that thing made my day. I snapped several pictures of him with it.
We then went to ride on some rides. He liked the fast ones, no surprise there. When I led him up to the race carts, his eyes lit up dancing in the afternoon sun. “Just wait for the bumper cars.” I told him he laughed.
“Oh, I am so going to thrash you!” he warned. We laughed as we got in our cars for the next race. As soon as the flag came down he took off. Keeping him in front of me, I kept an eye on him as we raced around the track. When another car tried to over take him he turned into it. Pushing it out of his way, he speed forward. Competing flowed through his blood. We went around five times. As the checkered flag came down, Yuri threw up his hands winning the race. As I pulled up beside him he was going on about how well he did. I couldn’t help but hug him. This calmed him as he blushed a little.
“Come on, time for the bumper cars.” With my arm around his waist I walked off. He was quiet for a few steps.
“I can ram you right?” he asked. I laughed.
“Anytime.” I winked at him. He stuttered something about the cars as I pulled him into line. He watched as the others before us went. I watched him . He was looking so intently at them.
“Do you ever just relax?” I asked, leaning back against the rail. “Its fun, Yuri, not something your going to be scored on.” He flicked his emerald eyes at me.
“I’m sorry your not having fun.” He mumbled. I took his hand.
“Every time I’m with you I have fun. I just like seeing your smile.” I told him. He blushed looking away from me. Smirking I noted he didn’t pull his hand away.
“Oh look some fags!” a loud voice called. I flicked my gaze behind us. Yuri dropped my hand. It wasn’t us they were talking about. Two guys were in line not far behind us. They had pink leggings with long white sweaters on over them. Two buff looking guys were behind them. One of the guys in pink had a bag with the name Jerry etched into it.
“Jerry!” I called. His dark head snapped up at me. “Hey, we've been waiting for you.” I motioned for them to come forward. He looked slightly surprised. I guess he wasn’t used to guys with half shaved heads and dressed in leather jackets helping them out.
“Come on.” I called. He made his way past the four people separating us. “Thanks.” He whispered as he past me.
“Names Otabek, this is my friend Yuri.” I told him.
“Jerry this is…”
“If you say Tom I'm going to die!” Yuri snorted. They chuckled at this. I smiled over to him.
“No this is Ken.” He said. Yuri grinned.
“Nice to met you.” He said. We followed them out onto the driving surface. Each of us took separate cars. I saw the two guys harassing them got on the same run as we did. Yuri swung his head back to me. My blood turned to ice at that sweet innocent grin he gave me. Ah fuck! I swore in my head as the cars turned on.
One of the big guys went for Jerry. Yuri rammed him out of the way. I slide in between the other and Ken, as Yuri readjusted to ram him as well. The kid was making it his personal mission to keep these two away from the others.
“Yuri keep to Jerry, I will watch Ken.” I called to him when I got close enough. With his thumb in the air he rammed into meat head one again. I turned to watch over Ken. It turned out to be fun smashing into them repeatedly. When the cars stopped, I jumped out quickly making my way to Ken I dragged him out as Yuri brought out Jerry.
With the kid we turned to face the bigger guys. “You two gay boys as well?” one asked. The other chuckled.
“They probably butt fuck each other.” He snickered.
“Jealous that my boyfriend is hotter than yours?” Yuri curled his nose up at the other guy while I laughed. I saw him move. His fist headed for Yuri's face. As I moved to block it the kid leapt into the air kicking out his feet he actually kicked the guy in the face. My mouth fell open. What the hell was that? He spun when he landed dropping down, he placed a hand on the ground. Sweeping his feet in a perfect circle he knocked the other guy off of his feet. I just stood there and laughed.
“Damn, Yuri, you're something else!” I punched the guy who he knocked over as he was on his feet again coming for him. He fell back. I knew he wasn’t getting up anytime soon. His friend was still holding his face. Yuri stood over him.
“Just know you got your asses handed to you by a couple of gay figure skaters.” With that he walked up to me, linked his hands behind my neck, and kissed me. It floored me, but only for a second. I curled my arms around his thin waist pulling him into me. Deepening the kiss. When I let him go we stood there alone.
“You are one hell of a kisser.”
“So are you.”
“Was that your first kiss?” he nodded face red. “Damn.” I whispered. Then with a cheeky smile I asked. “About this boyfriend thing…” he elbowed me in the gut. Laughing we gathered up the tiger before heading out. I was sure we got some laughs with him on the back of my bike and a tiger strapped to his back. He was smiling that’s all I cared about.
