Final Apocalypse: Infant

Unlike last time, a happy ending

Red and Tamara sat opposite each other at the dinner table.

"Let me get this straight. He put your personality into another body, and sent Elizabeth on her way?"

Tamara nodded and pulled her hair back into a ponytail. "That's the gist of it."

Red reached out and took her hand. "I've gotta admit. You are the most unpredictable woman I've ever met."

Tamara blushed. "Gee, thanks."

She turned around as the door slid open. Alex and Elizabeth stood in the doorway. She looked at Elizabeth's left ring finger. "Is there something going on here that I missed before?" She asked.

Elizabeth approached her and pulled up a chair. She looked into Tamara's eyes. "This feels weird. Like looking into a mirror."

Tamara took her counterpart's hand and looked at her engagement ring. "It's beautiful. How did he propose?"

Alex stayed at the door. "That's private."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "He played it off as a joke. That he forgot the ring was in his pocket. What about you and the big guy here?"

Tamara shook her head. "Not yet. Way too soon."

Red nodded in agreement. "She's crazy."

Elizabeth stared at the floor. "I guess we are," She handed him a slip of paper with a phone number written on it. "Call us if you need to. We're never far away." She stood and walked toward the door before stopping abruptly. "Tell James that he owes us six grand every two weeks. Punish that sick bastard for what he did to us. And give Marriko my condolences."

She walked out, taking Alex with her.

Tamara slid her hand across the table. "You up for a road trip?"

Red smiled and pulled out his skull mask. "I think we can arrange something, don't you think?"

Tamara smiled and held out a brochure advertising a beach vacation in Hawaii. "I've never had a pina colada before. I think it would be a worthwhile trip."

Red donned his mask and clenched his fist. "Let's go."
