Jordan threw Alex against a vent and laughed as lightning flashed on the horizon. "So, do you think she'll come to save your stupid ass?"

Alex grunted and pushed himself up. "You're a monster."

Jordan laughed. "No. She's the monster. She caused all this.'

Alex kicked at him and Jordan stepped back. "You're pretty fucking stubborn. For your sake, you best hope that she is too."

Tamara stood at the bottom of the Black and White building, staring up as lightning flashed. "Elizabeth, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I need your help."

Laughter from her mind. "Really? You need my help? Today's your lucky day. I hate that fucker as much as you do. He dies tonight," She said as she took over.

She used her tendrils to scale the building, stopping as she saw Jordan standing over Alex. "You got what you wanted, let him go."

Jordan chuckled and shook a finger. "Not so fast, my queen. You should know better." He gestured to the grenades he had rigged around the roofline.

Elizabeth scowled. "You bastard. Let him go. This is between you and me. There's no reason to involve him in this."

Jordan lifted Alex. "Is this your boyfriend or something? Ha. How fucking pitiful. You have an attachment to something so easily broken. Something so.. fragile." He snapped Alex's arm, making him scream in pain.

Elizabeth stayed put, resisting the urge to charge and kill him. One wrong move could cost them all their lives. "What the hell do you want? I came here as you requested. There's no reason to hold Alex hostage any longer."

Jordan lifted Alex over his head. "You're right. He's served his usefulness." He threw him backward over the roof. Elizabeth screamed and launched herself over Jordan. She looked down and saw that Alex was laying on a fire escape, groggy from the impact.

Jordan laughed. "Such pitiful creatures. To feel something like love for something so easily broken. Something easily dispatched."

Elizabeth spun around and lashed a tendril at Jordan's throat. He caught it with his own and pulled her into a punch, knocking her down and nearly over the edge.

Elizabeth wiped the blood from her lip and swore. Once again, she'd underestimated him. He was much faster than she thought. Far stronger than she'd thought.

She pushed herself up with a tendril and smiled at Jordan. "Is that all you can do?" She waved her finger to challenge him. He scowled.

"You dare mock me? I will destroy you!"

He charged her, tendrils leveled at her major arteries. She jumped over him and stabbed him with two of her tendrils. He cried out and flung her away with a whip of his own tendrils. She hit the vent Alex had laid against moments earlier and fell onto the black gravel.

How was it possible to brush off an attack like that? She thought that would have at the very least, staggered him. Yet, he was still standing tall. Like it had never happened in the first place. She smiled.

"I have to give you credit, Kaleil. You sure are durable. That attack would have killed most people."

Jordan shifted and lifted himself off the ground and over Elizabeth. "I think you'll find that I'm not like most people."

Elizabeth pushed herself up. "Agreed. You're worse." Behind her back, she held a section of vent piping that she'd ripped off. She just had to hope that Jordan didn't see it. Judging by the smug look on his face, it seemed that he was completely oblivious to her new weapon.

She walked toward him and used her tendrils to elevate herself to eye level with him. "Tell me something, doctor. Why were you trying to impress me?"

A shy smile appeared on Jordan's face. "As I said before, all I wanted was your love. You denied me that."

Elizabeth raised the pipe over their heads. "I never said I didn't love you. I said that I would never consider you as my spawn. I've always had an emotional connection to my victims. I loved all of them at one point in time. You were the exception. I didn't have an emotional connection with you. I love you only because you saved my baby's life. That's it." She swung the pipe and Jordan ducked, causing her to strike herself. She hit the ground hard, bordering unconsciousness.

Jordan brandished his tendrils and leveled them at her head. "This is the end, my queen. You die tonight."

Elizabeth closed her eyes and braced herself for death. Then, gunshots. Loud and close by.
