You walk beside Sugawara, yawning. The night before you had facetimed Sugawara, telling him all about your night with Oikawa. He seemed just as excited as you were, hyping you up over Oikawa. The rest of your day seemed to drag on forever. You felt exhausted and almost considered skipping practice, but you couldn't just leave the boys like that.

"Hi (Y/N)," Kageyama greets you as you walk into the gym. For a moment he stares at you, holding no expression. This was rather unusual from Kageyama. He almost never greeted you, let alone anyone.

"Uhm, hey," you laugh awkwardly, looking around for someone to help. Unfortunately, the rest of the boys were across the gym practicing sets. Kageyama was supposed to be over there.

"Are you okay? You look.. tired," he asks.

"Im fine, I was out with Oikawa late last night," you explain, noticing him develop a hurt expression. At the same time, he also looked irritated and annoyed.

"Oikawa? I bet I could've-"

"Kageyama! Come on," yells Daichi from across the gym, holding a volleyball in his hand. Kageyama grumbles under his breath and jogs over to the other boys, leaving you alone.

You sit in your usual spot, against the wall and research on Aoba Johsai. Plenty of websites had information on the team and some even had videos. You click on one video and it starts to play. It shows Aoba Johsai at a practice game. The camera shifts to Oikawa who is about to serve. You watch the boy throw the ball up, take a few steps before jumping up into the air. Your mouth drops with shock. That was an amazing serve. You continue to look through websites, keeping an eye out for any videos of Oikawa. After watching a few videos, you notice he always has a smug smirk on his face when serving.

You turn off your phone and put it down, watching the boys practice sets and spikes. Kageyama and Sugawara take turns setting, letting others spike as Noya tries to receive them. Sugawara and Kageyama switch, letting Kageyama get a break. As he walks off to get water he makes eye contact with you. He grabs the bottom hem of his shirt and pulls it up, wiping the sweat off his forehead. After he let go of his shirt, he looks at you with a partial smile.

"Weirdo," you whisper to yourself and get up. You walk around the gym, picking up scattered balls. Practice would be ending soon and you didn't plan on staying later than necessary. Jeez, these boys don't pick up after themselves. I still don't know why I do this.

As you went around cleaning up, you wonder what Oikawa was up to. He probably was at practice as well, spiking or who knows what. What does he do after practice? Does he walk home alone? Does he stay after a bit? You smile, thinking to yourself.

"(Y/N)! How was your day," shouts Hinata from behind you as you organize the water bottles. You turn around to see him smiling, his eyes gleaming with joy.

You couldn't help but smile, "Hi Hinata, it was alright. I hope yours was good."

"Oh yes! It was! Did you see the receive I did?" Hinata points towards the middle of the court. "It didn't go anywhere but I hit it!"

You didn't. He must've hit it when you were busy looking up Oikawa and his team. "Yea!! It was great, I'm proud of you," you lie, feeling your stomach sink with guilt. You almost never missed anything like that and when one of the most important things happen, you're distracted.

"Really!! Well, I have to go! Bye (Y/N)," he exclaims, high-fives you and runs out of the gym.

Sugawara chuckles beside you, "He sure is something else huh? You ready to go?"

You nod and the two of you leave, Sugawara waves to Daichi. Before you started to walk home, you both stop to talk about Oikawa and Aoba Johsai. Sugawara talks about his past experiences against the team. He lets you vent to him about Oikawa, about how he made you feel last night. You weren't sure how to explain it, but he had given you warm fuzzy feelings the night before.

After a few minutes of talking, you both stand in silence. You couldn't help but notice Sugawara looking off. He didn't look at ease and he seemed concerned. His eyes looked different.

"You okay Suga?" you ask, resting your hand on his shoulder. He looks up at you, worry in his eyes. He bites his lower lip, looking away from you. Tears start to form in his eyes.

He moves towards you, wrapping his arms around your waist. You were surprised by his sudden hug and you wrap your arms around his body. You weren't sure what was wrong, but this wasn't like Sugawara. Whenever he was upset, he never showed it in public.

He buries his face into your shoulder, "(Y/N).. would there ever be anything that would.. impact our friendship?" he whispers and you can hear the pain in his voice. Something was seriously wrong.

You shake your head, "No Suga. Nothing would impact our friendship. You're my best friend," you reply, moving your hand onto the back of his head, still embraced in a hug.

"P-promise?" his voice cracks and you feel his hands grip onto your shirt.

"I promise Suga, nothing would change things," you whisper, running your fingers through his silver hair, trying to comfort him.

He then pulls away and puts his hands onto your shoulders. His eyes stare into your eyes, teary. His bottom lip is puckered.

"There's something I need to tell you."
