I woke up the morning of December 2nd with renounced happiness, vowing to forget the arguments with Sirius and to look forward to a day at Hogsmeade with August. I had to understand that even if Sirius was a toxic toerag, he was my best friend no matter what. I wondered, silently, if Lily ever felt this way towards James.
I hopped out of bed, pulling the curtains back and letting rays of sunshine penetrate our dark dorm room.
"Rise and shine, Lilyy!" I crowed, shaking my friend and pulling back the covers.
She groaned, blowing a strand of her deep red hair out of her face.
"Do I have to?" She laid back down, probably dreaming of pushing James into the Black Lake.
"Yes!" I was full of energy, bouncing around our room. "Today's Hogsmeade day!"
Lily flopped out of bed, looking at me with a frustrated expression.
"We don't leave until 10, Wills, it's barely 8 o'clock!"
I sighed dreamily, resting my chin on the windowsill.
"We still have to eat breakfast and get ready, Lily, I need all the time I can get!" I spun towards her, flashing a gleeful smile.
She grinned at me, pulling my arm to the bathroom we shared.
"You really like him, don't you?"
"Of course I do..." I said, meaning both Sirius and August.
After putting on my winning outfit Marlene helped pick yesterday, Lily helped me style my hair.
"Curls? Or waves? Braids, or down?" she contemplated, flicking her wand as my hair switched from space buns to fluffy curls. We ended up on two tiny braids on top, with the rest of my hair floating in light curls down my neck.
"Oh, Wills you look gorgeous!" Lily gasped, putting the finishing touches on my look.
I spun in the mirror, hardly recognizing the girl in front of me. Instead of my casual, messy style, she looked retro, elegant, and most of all beautiful.
Lily and I walked down the stairs, only stopping once to help a disgruntled first year who had gotten stuck in a trick stair.
I sat down in the Great Hall, the nerves hitting me in the stomach like a ton of bricks. I'd never even hung out with a boy beside Remus & Sirius, let alone go on a date. Remus must have noticed, raising his eyebrow at me before whispering to James.
"Oi, sis, what's with the long face?" James asked, ruffling his hair when he noticed Lily beside me.
"Oh, nothing, I just-" I began until Lily cut me off excitedly.
"She's going on a date!" she cried, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Lily!" I jabbed her in the stomach, my face turning crimson.
"A date?" James waggled his eyebrows at me. "With who, might I ask?"
"None of your business, James," I scoffed, knowing perfectly well all he'd do was try and ruin it.
"AUGUST MCLAGGEN!" Lily shouted before I could stop her.
"LILY EVANS!" I yelled, turning towards her furiously. "Stop it!"
James looked at me with a shocked expression on his face and even Remus looked mildly surprised. What really got me though, was Sirius. He slammed his fork down and ran out of the Great Hall, not even stopping when several girls tried to flirt with him. It seemed as if, though, no one had noticed it but me, seeing as Remus, Lily & James were still caught on the fact I was going to Hogsmeade with August.
