Tessa Winters
"So, you guys, did it?" Hadley asked shocked
"I know, I know" I shake my head and sip my coffee "what was I thinking"
"Tessa?" She looked at me with worry
"What?" I asked look confused
"You still love him. Do not say you regret it" she shook her head, I didn't say anything "Tessa he is the father of your kid, I see the way he looks at you. The way you look at him. He was so stressed when you got taken"
"I-I don't regret it. It's just..." I pause when I hear footsteps coming down the stairs. I did not look up
"You good Tes?" Ryder asked as he picked up a cup of coffee
"I'm fine... I'm going to go wake up Hazel" I don't look at anybody as I make my way out of the kitchen and up the stairs. I could feel their stares
I open Hazel's door and hold my breath; Hazel was sitting on Asher's lap while they were laughing. I lean on the door frame
(A/N ~ that is what that is called🤦♀️ y'all in my other book I could not remember what a door frame was, so I changed the whole damn sentence, so I did not have to use it😂 someone send help)
Asher or Hazel has noticed me yet, so I stayed quiet, just watching them. I had not told Hazel that Asher was her dad yet, I honestly do not know if I am going to tell her. After this all blows over, we are leaving, this is not the life I want for her. I am giving up racing, I am going to just make honest money when we leave. I do not want her to grow up anywhere near gangs and the street life. It is not fair to her.
I smile softly look at them talk and Hazel giggle at something he said. My heart broke, they looked like a happy father and daughter. I try to listen on what they are saying as Hazel's face gets serious
"Mean man had said something Ashy" Hazel said staring right into his eyes
"What did he say Haz?" He looked concerned
"He said he was going to have a talk with my dad" she looked so confused "But my dad didn't want anything to do with us. He just talked to you though, not my dad" she shook her head, before Hazel or Asher could say anything I knocked on the door like I'd just walked in and smiled
"You hungry baby?" I asked Hazel. I made eye contact with Asher before walking over to pick Hazel up "Let's go eat"
"I want pancakes" she demanded
"How do we ask?"
"Pretty pleaseeee" she gave me puppy dog eyes
"Yes, go downstairs I'll be there in a moment" I set her down and she ran out of the room, I heard Asher get up
"When are you going to tell her? She's my kid Tessa, she deserves to know I didn't abandon her" he was glaring at me now
"Asher" I look away and cross my arms "Look, I don't plan on sticking around here anymore. I don't want her growing up in this life"
"She deserves to know who her dad is" he was growing more pissed off
"Well, it doesn't matter Asher, we're not sticking around, and I don't plan on keeping in contact for both her safety and mine. Look what happened to us Asher. We were kidnapped, we could have died"
"I'll protect you Tessa, I'll always protect you"
"Good job you did" I rolled my eyes and I heard him huff before storming towards the door "Where are you going?"
"Out" was all he said before I followed him to the stairs. He was already down the stairs and I heard the front door slam, a lone tear slides down my face
