Tessa Winters
We were in a small town in the middle of Nevada, I've kind of been driving no stop for the last few days. I did not want to risk getting caught before we could even make it out of the state. I traded my car for a small, long bed ford truck. Out bags were in the bed and Hazel was in her car seat on the passenger side. She was passed out as I fueled up, it was about ten o'clock and I needed to find a motel
I finished putting fuel in the tank before driving off to a small run-down hotel I would need when pulling into town. The Black Bear, I park in the parking lot and get out. I unbuckle Hazel before making my way to the check in office, I walk in and see an old lady with a kind of smile and soft eyes
"Hello dear" she called as I walked towards her
"A room with one bed please" Hazel had her head in my shoulder and arms wrapped around me as I pulled out some cash
"How many days?" She asked typing on her computer
"A week at least" I nod
"That'll be three hundred and fourth three dollars" she took the money and grabbed a key from the shelf behind her "Room seven, first floor"
"Thank you" I tell her as she hands me a key
I walk out and towards the rooms, I unlock the door quickly and set Hazel on the bed under the covers. I grab the key and leave the room heading for my truck, we could stay her for a few days. I was ahead of the game; I am thinking of heading to a small unknown town in Organ maybe if Arizona. I pick up our bags from the bed and head back to the room. Once I am in, I make sure all locks are on the door and put a chair in front of it
I make my way to the bathroom for a much-needed hot shower. It had been a few days and I probably smelled; Hazel would need one in the morning. I was not going to wake her up now and have a cranky kid on my hands when I need sleep myself. Once I was out, I changed into a pair of shorts and a tank top before turning out the lights and crawling into bed with Hazel. I pulled her close to me and soon fell asleep, I just need a few hours of rest
