Three days had already passed since the two students came home. The first day, the couple spent their time with Felix's family, flipping a coin as the mothers wouldn't stop insisting the other takes the pair. It was an interesting night, including Logan teasing Felix for having a boyfriend and asking Chris if the sophomore ever kicked him in his sleep. Felix's mom then told Logan that his girlfriend was at the door, which caused a mischievous sparkle in his eye to form. The rest of the night was Felix's parents telling Chris embarrassing stories and Felix & Logan teasing each other.

Second night: Chris's place. Felix and Hayley got along a lot better than expected, seeming to have the same taste in music. He also got to meet Chris's family dog, Berry, who was the "floofiest boi." The night went by slow as Chris's parents embarrassed him just as Felix's parents did to him.

The third night they spent at a small motel, taking cabs and walking around their favourite hotspots, even visiting some of their old friends on their way. They visited a mall in Canberra, the city between Sydney and Melbourne. They found out that they both visited there with their families and friends quite often, meaning they might've ran into each other from time-to-time. Chris got Felix a small snowglobe, insisting on it not counting as his actual present. They ended the night with Felix's head resting on Chris's shoulder, both letting small tears of joy flow down their face as they waited on a bench for a cab.

Now, it's Christmas Eve. The two decided to sleep at their respective houses, considering they both hadn't had one-on-one time with their actual families yet.

"Goodnight, Lixie~!" Felix's mom sang softly as she pecked his forehead, eyebrows knotted together slightly. The college sophomore decided it'd be best if he slept in his old room. He already heard my mom and dad's complaints about it bringing back bad memories, but Felix was sworn to his decision.

After the incident, the family got a new bed and burned the old one, knowing no one would want to buy it and that it would clear their subconsciouses if it was destroyed. They also replaced the carpets and repainted the walls back to their original blue shade so there wouldn't be a chance of seeing blood on anything, even power washing some of Felix's furniture. Felix thought it was a little overboard, but figured it was good that it helped them.

"Hey, Mom. I'll be okay, alright?" Felix reassured quietly, rubbing her hand that she had laid on his cheek. She felt his forehead in motherly concern but shut her eyes, admitting defeat. She attempted to tuck in her son, to which he squirmed away from, disheveling the sheets. "Mommm, I'm fine."

She simply chuckled, wrestling with her son a little longer before huffing out a breath and standing by his bedside. "Alrighty, if you say so. I love you, honey," she said tiredly yet sweetly.

Felix smiled slightly, more tired than normal since he took his sleep meds, not trusting his ability to get sleep without Chris let alone in the room he was in now. He was determined, though, to confront the ghosts of the trauma he faced. "Love you, too, mama," Felix murmured.

"What about me?" Felix's dad whined, making Felix chuckle.

"Yeah, love you, too, ya old bastard," Felix joked. It was common for him to do that to his dad growing up, which he would usually get a dirty glare for. This time, though, his dad gave him a small smile, and Felix would even say he saw his eyes glisten slightly.

His parents both waved once before closing his door to just a crack, the dim yellow light of the hallway still leaking through slightly. Felix turned onto his back, looking up to his ceiling, covered in glow-in-the-dark space stickers that he got for his 14th birthday. He smiled softly to himself, barely noticing the small sound of his parents' door closing as he counted the stars on his ceiling.
