Savi
The Autumn Dance is in one week and no one has asked me to go with them. Not that I expected anyone to do. I'm the same old same old, casual, typical day for Invisible Savi. It's not like I want to be popular but it'll be a little nice if someone, one person, other than Sam, would notice me.
This average looking guy in my biology class (Hey they can't all look perfect) started to walk towards my table in study hall. His name was Jean Pierre. Totally French. Totally bland personality. But I was desperate at this point.
"Bonjour Savi," he said in the thickest French accent possible. It's like he could make any name sound beautiful.
"Hey," I said trying to be nonchalant. Inside I was praying that he was asking me out to the Autumn Dance.
"I was wondering if..." He trailed off and started mumbling mid-sentence.
"Wondering if...?" Please be asking me to the dance. Please be asking me to the dance.
"If you could give your friend Sam my number." He suddenly blurted." I was thinking about asking her to the Autumn Dance."
Great. He wanted to ask Sam out.
"Yeah, sure." I ripped out a piece of from my notebook and scribbled down her number. His accent wasn't that cute anyway.
As if on cue, Sam came into study hall.
"Hey, Sav. Sorry I'm late. Mr. Ledarski held us in for a pop quiz. Who does this guy think he is?" She plopped down in a seat next to me and opened up a pack of green apple Sour Patch Straws.
Jean Pierre just stared at her in a daze, mumbled something, then left. Sam didn't seem to notice.
"You and the French guy?", she said, nudging my ribs playfully. "Did he ask you to the dance?"
"No, uh... actually, he wanted me to give you his number. He wants to ask you to the dance."
Sam started choking on her candy straws. "Are you serious? I give him a pencil one time. I'm probably gonna say no." She said with a shrug.
"What? You should go."
"We could go together you know, instead of stag." It would be better than going alone. But then again, the awkward dances... The photos of her holding my waist...
"That would mean confirming the rumors that we're secretly a gay couple."
She giggled and waved it off. "Come on it would be fun. Even if we don't go together, we could still go dress shopping tonight."
"Yeah, I guess. I think there's one nearby."Ari
"So. Dress shopping after class?" I asked Bev. We have about fifteen minutes left in our free period and there was a shop nearby. Plus it's last period so we could leave anyway.
She shrugged. "You're just gonna wear a dress that's short enough to fit a toddler anyway."
True. But Liam wants to take it slow, and I have a feeling that wearing a four inch dress will be taking it a little too far. That's also code for virgin. "Not this time. I'm thinking about wearing a long gown."
She looked at me as if I was joking. "Right," she said raising an eyebrow.
Since when are both of them going against me? Last time I checked, I was the one with the crown on my head. I need them to be with me. Without them I'm just a mean girl. Which I am, but which them, we're a group of mean girls.
"I mean it. Liam's... Old fashioned."
She stared at me in disbelief. Then after a couple of seconds, her face was stone cold serious. "Wait, Liam's a virgin?"
I nodded. I wasn't 100% sure, but 'taking it slow' was the equivalent of 'no ring, no ding'.
"Are you gonna break up with him?"
"I can't. I'd look like a love making whore if I did. Besides, he's nice," I said showing a tiny smile.
"Won't be long until you're not satisfied," she mumbled.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing."
That's what I thought.
"Lets just go to the mall, okay," I say putting on my sweetest but rudest smile.
"What about Chloe?"
I shrugged. "She can drive herself."
I still haven't forgiven her for what she did the other day. Besides, she doesn't have a free period and already has tons of dresses to pick from. She'll be fine.
