"TESS, GET YOUR BUTT OUT HERE!" Sarah yelled, popping her head inside the house. Without knocking.
"Ever heard of knocking?" I asked irritably, slinging my pink and grey backpack over my shoulder.
There was a hrrmph from behind Sarah, and I guessed that was my cousin, Una. "Una made it out way earlier then you, and look at her!"
"You forced me out.," Una yawned sleepily.
"SHUT UP!"
At the time I was all about ready to slam the door in Sarah's face, but hey, its the first day of school-7th grade.
"Okay, okay, chill out, I'm ready," I snapped as I shut the door. Both the girls let out a sigh of relief, and we started down the driveway.
~
"Does the bus have to be late on the first day of school?" Una complained. Sarah shrugged. "Hey, Sarah, did you watch Hyoma verus Reiji yet?"
"No."
"Oh. Shouldn't say what happens then," the blonde girl looked away, but Sarah was up in an instant, shaking her shoulders madly while questioning her.
I took it as a sign to change the subject. "Hey, erm- Sarah, will ya stop it? Okay, thanks. I heard there's new teachers."
Sarah piped up. "Not only that, but the principal and the Vice principal are new too."
"Hey, guys is it strange that we're the only ones here?" Una queried, looking around.
Both Sarah and I did too, and she was right. We were the only ones here. "Maybe 'cause we're the only kids in the neighborhood," I suggested.
Una shook her head, eyes narrowing, and that's the time the bus hurled down the driveway.
It was a strange-looking bus- one half red, one half blue. It screeched to a stop a few feet before us. The door flipped open, and I squinted at the driver in the shadows.
"Are there two bus drivers?" Sarah whispered, confused. Alongside me, Una shrugged.
"Get on already, we're gonna be late for school!" Someone snapped, the light switching on.
Sarah was right. There are two of them!
One was dressed in red, with orange, almost blonde hair parted to the left. Like the other, he had blue eyes. The other was almost the same, except dressed in blue and his orange hair was parted to the right.
"Ohmigod, is that who I..." Una stuttered as she climbed on board.
"The name's Dan," said the red one, the one at the wheel. "And that's my twin, Reiki."
As we took our seats, Reiki gave us a quick thumbs-up before bickering with his brother.
Una popped up in the seat before us, blinking her green-brown eyes. "Could it be...-
Her question was interrupted as two blonde haired boys rushed on board. The longer-haired one plopped in the seat across from Una, while the other went directly to the back.
"Hey, who are you guys?" The one across from Una panted, trying to regain his breath.
"I'm Una, this is Sarah and Tess."
"I'm Luke, and the boy back there is Logan, my brother." Luke narrowed his eyes at the two bus drivers. "What...why are there two...-"
"Shut up, kid!" Reiki threw a water bottle at him, which hit Luke's forearm. A hoarse bark of laughter came from behind them.
Sarah muttered to me. "I don't like that Logan dude..."
"Neither do I, Sarah. Neither do I," I hissed back.
~
Dan dropped us off at the school. There were some others in the bus, like a black-haired girl (With the tone just darker then Sarah's) called Raven, and another boy with brown hair named Tim.
I was surpised we weren't late. "What do you have as homeroom?" Sarah asked, pulling out the sheet.
"Looks like we all signed up for all the electives. Didn't think it was possible. But I got Social Studies as homeroom." Una remarked, glancing over at all our papers.
"Even Boy scouts." I agreed, pulling out my own. "Sweet, I got that too! Sarah?"
"Got it."
~
We had to go to our lockers, of course, first. Una was several lockers to my right, while Sarah was to my back. I murmured the locker number beneath my breath as the locker swung open, and I tossed my bag in it.
"Good first day to you, students!" Someone boomed over the speakers. "I am your principal, Mr. Hagane, or as I liked to be called, 'The Immortal Phoenix-" There was the loud crash as Sarah head-banged into her locker door.
There was a splintering crash over the speakers, then a female voice was heard. "Sorry about that. But yes, that is your principal, Mr.Hagane. I am Hikaru, your Vice Principal. Teachers, please use these first days to show the students around schools. Thank you, have a nice day."
Una joined Sarah and me at the closed door of Social Studies, eyes wide as she tried to stop her pencil puch from falling off her notebook. "Hikaru? Dan? Reiki? Ryo? This is seriously weird."
Sarah nodded in agreement, and I sighed. "Maybe we'll see Kyoya or something in Health. I agree, something weird is going on."
