PSA: please read!

This book has been a WIP for several years now, and while I've managed to get through a considerable chunk of my admittedly over-ambitious editing goals (77 chapters + Memoirs of Havas!), its been about a year since I last touched this monster fic, and ... I'm giving up lol. I love Yesterday's Enemy, it's a project I grew up with, but now there are other things I'd like to write and other things I'd like to be doing.

Good news!  I finished writing the rest of the fic a long time ago so I'm going to be releasing the unedited conclusion. HOWEVER ... I have no idea as to the state the rest of this book is in and I frankly have no motivation to find out. Beware some plot and stylistic inconsistencies, but I hope it's still somewhat readable. Either way, I want it finished, lol.

You also may notice the chapter numbers jump from 77 to 81; I cut some chapters here and there in the editing process, and changing the rest of the numbers seems like too much of a hassle.

Thanks for understanding, and please don't judge my 14yr old self's writing too harshly :)

EIGHTY-ONE

The sun was beating down on the clearing. It was a pleasant, breezy summer day. The wind rushed through the leaves of their tree as if it was whispering to them in hushed tones.

Lorelai and Levi lay in the grass together beneath the branches. They had had themselves a little picnic, their sandwiches and teacups lay discarded in a basket. A few books lay open on the grass; they'd intended to continue the story they were reading together. But, as usual, they'd gotten distracted.

The grass was soft beneath them. Levi sat up so he could further pepper Lorelai's face with kisses.

"Levi," she hummed against his lips. "I have to go, my love."

Levi only uttered a stern "Mm," in protest before winding his arms around her. He might have kissed Lorelai a hundred times, but still, the butterflies persisted. He ran his fingertips over the indent of her spine through Lorelai's blouse.

He felt her grin. Eventually, Lorelai broke away to lie back down into the grass; he watched her fondly, the green strands tickling her cheeks.

Levi looked heavenly in the afternoon sun. The wind was tousling his black hair, a smile on his lips.

She gazed up at him, adoration in her eyes. Lorelai would have given everything to stay here with him forever, but alas, responsibilities were calling.

"Marry me," he whispered, taking one of her hands and pressing a kiss to her knuckles.

She giggled. "Oh, stop, you. We've barely known each other a year." Lorelai sat up again, smiling teasingly. "Most couples wait— even if they are hopelessly in love." She stole a kiss before getting up and straightening her skirts.

"Are you intent on breaking my heart?" Levi smiled, feigning hurt.

Rolling her eyes playfully, "You drama queen." She ruffled his hair. "I'll marry you when all of this is over."
