'Love is fickle and most often senseless. We are drawn to each other like magnets, pulled forth by a force so few will ever understand.'-An extract from the book 'Evolutions' written by philosopher Adette Briggs.

Wall Maria, South Region, Port Noaks, Noaks Survey Corps Base of Operations
The sun began to peer over the treeline. A faint breeze awoke Levi as it rustled the curtains. With a yawn, he opened his eyes, another day, he sighed.
Nestled snugly in his arms was Lorelai, fast asleep, her head against his chest. Levi was glad she was getting some rest, the last few nights had been all tossing and turning with little sleeping. He drowsily planted a kiss to her head.
Levi gazed out the window from the bed. He dared not move, Lorelai needed her rest.
She was so troubled lately. Briggs, of course. But, there was something else, he could tell; there was always something else, as long as he'd known her.
Lorelai stirred a little, furrowing her brow at whatever dreams she was having. He brushed her silky hair from her eyes tenderly. She tensed, then woke up with a sharp inhale of air.
"Hey, you alright?" he asked softly.
Quickly righting herself, Lorelai relaxed again, and her breathing slowed. "Nightmares," she mumbled against his chest.
"I get them too; it's okay."
She smiled, peering up at him. "Whatever would I do without you?"
He smiled back. Levi was about to steal a kiss when there was a sharp knocking at the door.
Lorelai sighed, chuckling a little. "Well, the day calls."
Levi grumbled something incoherent. She placated him with a kiss on his nose before slipping from his arms and to the bathroom to change. The bed was cold without her.
She emerged a few minutes later, pinning her hair up with a clip as she went to see who was banging on her door at dawn.
Opening the door, she looked down to find Elske there. The girl stood with her arms crossed; her fiery hair splayed out around her face.
"Kid?" she raised an eyebrow.
"Can we talk, Lieutenant?"
Lorelai nodded, showing Elske to a seat in front of her desk. She also took a seat, briefly waving to Levi as she saw him leave for the day.
She and Elske made awkward eye contact.
They were of course on speaking terms now. But, this girl had still tried to kill her people, Lorelai couldn't help but be wary. "How can I help you?"
"Tell me, why didn't you select me for your squad? It makes no sense! Out of everyone here, I'm the best suited for it!"
"Cool your jets, sweetheart. I wasn't trying to insult you or-"
Elske took to her feet. "'It's her disposition that worries me.' What is that supposed to mean?"
Lorelai pinched the bridge of her nose. "So you spoke to Iva-"
"This has got nothing to do with my 'disposition' does it?"
"Elske-"
"You still think I'm going to turn around and put a knife in your back the first chance I get-"
