The name felt familiar, but nothing came to mind. So, I took his hand in mine and we shared a handshake. He, apparently Mark, smiled, and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms and legs.
"So you don't know anything about yourself?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to the side. He felt so recognizable.. But every lead I found in the crevices of my brain would disappear. Some poor excuse for a detective was digging around, finding barely scraps of evidence.
"I can't think of anything, no," I replied, "I know my name, but I only knew it once you said it." I shrugged a little, shaking my head sadly.
After a moment of consideration, he waved an arm in the air and called some random name. A tall woman scurried into the room, to which he said, "Could you bring us some tea, darling? I need to tell our guest a.. Great deal of things."
    ......
Tea in hands, Mark exploded into what felt like hundreds of stories of "our lives" together. Turns out, we were friends. And we had been friends since we were kids. He told me about his family, but when I asked about my own, he sheepishly admitted that none of our friends knew anything about my family.
"Who are our other friends?" I interrupted. Mark suddenly became visibly uncomfortable. He began wringing his hands and shifting side to side. Eye contact was lost.
"Well.." he seemed like he was struggling to think.
"We all grew up together," I noticed that he wasn't using any names. "And those who grow up with others, tend to get very close. And so.. I married a woman. She was beautiful and kind. But another friend was jealous of me. He took her from me, and she left. I became angry.. And I did some things I regret, but," his voice wavered, almost as if he might cry.
"You don't have to keep talking about this," I said, "If it makes you uncomfortable."
"No," he denied, "This is important for you to know, Y/n."
Mark took a moment to compose himself, before looking up at me once more. Tears peaked in the corner of his eyes.
"I spent so long without.. Feeling like myself and.. I said and did things.. I feel so guilty.." He slouched, hiding his face from my view and crumbling in composure. He seemed so small. Helpless, even. For a moment, I wondered why he trusted me with all this information, then I remembered. Perhaps I was the only lifelong friend who didn't betray him.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that, and I'm sorry I don't remember-"
He interrupted me; "You disappeared. No one knew where you were. I looked everywhere.. I thought you'd understand me.. But after a while.." He wiped a tear off his cheek. "After awhile I considered that you.. Didn't want to understand me.." His stature changed suddenly, and he smiled a painful smile. "But you're here now, and you need my help. I'm sorry to dump all this information after you technically just learned who I am, but.. I want you to become you again."
"What do you mean?" I questioned. He was acting a lot different than before; less small and hopeless, more confident and endearing, almost.
"You are my only true friend, even though you don't remember. So, if it's alright, I would like you to stay here, in Markiplier Manor two-point-o." He spread his arms wide, before making a grimace-like face. "Don't ask what happened to the first one."
I let out a small chuckle, before stopping. Was Mark trustworthy enough? Was he good? I mean.. He couldn't have been lying. He knew my name before I ever did, so.. He was my only hope. He seemed so genuine..
    "Alright, sounds like a plan."
He jumped to his feet, clapping and then clasping his hands together, smiling as he spoke again. "Perfect! First things first, you need a haircut. And a lot of work."
Nodding and standing up, he grasped my hand and led me back towards the door.
Maybe I was a little in over my head, but, I would finally have appearance in order.
I really do need a haircut.

(Yes I understand this chapter isn't as good as the last one, but I spent a good amount of time writing it and I wanted to get a second chapter out. Thanks for the like.. two people who are actually reading this. I hope you like it so far.
