四 : His Secret

The wooden door slowly opens. Diluc swiftly enters your room without any noise, and carefully sits on the side of your bed so as to not wake you up. He momentarily stared at the floor in a daze, before finally having the courage to look at your face.

For some reason, he couldn't get some sleep.

Why? He doesn't know, either.

But he knew that he wanted to be by your side.

After he left your room a few hours ago, he changed his usual clothes into a more comfortable one; a plain white shirt and black jogging pants. His hair that was once in a ponytail was now untied. He felt relaxed, yet deep inside he knew something, or someone was keeping him awake.

"Ah, why can't I stop thinking about this person..." He mumbles to himself as he draws closer to you. He observes your face; from your long lashes, rosy cheeks, and lips that were slightly parted. He found himself smiling because the once sorrowful face full of tears, was now happily and peacefully resting.

He never knew he could deeply care for someone other than his family and Mondstadt itself. He couldn't even believe that he took this girl under him a few months back in order to train her.

Was it out of pity? Or could it be that she... reminded him of his old passionate self? Whatever the real reason is, it's clear that he didn't have any regrets in meeting you. During that short time you've spent together, he had come to appreciate your existence and willfulness in becoming a protector of your city.

That's why he strongly despises the fact that you don't see your worth and your meaning.

He also hates that he can't fully convey his feelings for you.

"What's so good about venturing with the Traveler, (Name)? It doesn't define your capability as a Knight." He whispered those words as he caressed your face, earning a slight groan from you. He draws in closer until your faces are inches away from each other.

"In my eyes, you're fine just the way you are."

Diluc closes the remaining distance as he gently kisses you on the lips. The touch sent the much-craved feeling inside him as he had been wanting to do this to you for a long time. He stayed still and closed his eyes to feel this special moment that you probably won't remember.

He pulled away after a few seconds, fearing that he might get caught red-handed. Luckily for him, you were still soundly asleep.

'This kiss should be a secret...'

He gets up from your bed, feeling satisfied from the first (and maybe last) kiss he gave you. He leaves the room while touching his lips with his fingertips.

The door closes. There was silence.

You turn to your side.

Your eyes shot wide open and your entire face went as red as a beet.

You heard and felt everything. You feel the fast heartbeats in your chest as you breathed heavily. Butterflies were dancing inside your stomach. You can't believe what just happened.

You can't believe that Diluc just kissed you.

"H-how can I sleep after this...?!"
