The Octonauts and the midnight rescue

Chapter-3: Missing

Recap: Vanessa bumps into two dolphins who need her help to save the creatures of their home reef from a rockslide. Unfortunately, Vanessa ends up losing all contact with the Octopod. What will she do? Read on to find out...

"But it will be so hard to find a new home for us!" the fish said worriedly, and Vanessa sighed. "I promise we'll find you a new home somewhere else." Vanessa said. "But for now, come along please, you never know when those rocks would fall on you! That would be dangerous!"

The fish finally agreed, though slightly reluctantly. Vanessa ushered the fish and a few other creatures away to a safer place outside the reef.

"How's it going Zelda?" Vanessa called to the dolphin who was not so far from her. "It's alright, but there's a really reluctant manta ray here, and it won't budge no matter what!" Zelda replied back.

"Give me a minute, I'm coming!" Vanessa said, swimming towards her; this was gonna be a long night. How she wished the Octonauts knew where she was!

Tweak was sleeping peacefully in her room. Suddenly, the peace and quiet of the launch bay was broken by a sudden beeping that startled her awake.

"What the-?" She thought, jumping out of bed.

She strode over to the big screen in the launch bay to see what it was. The screen flashed to show the Gup-V at the bottom of a trench.

"What on earth?!" Tweak yelled. How did the Gup-V end up there? The last time she checked she had been fixing it, and had left it unfinished before she went to bed. Usually, she stayed up late fixing up a Gup, but last night she had gone to sleep, leaving it unfixed.

Tweak could think of only one person who would take out the Gup-V. Mentally cursing herself for not telling Vanessa that the Gup-V was still in the need of repairs, Tweak quickly called Vanessa and Daniel's shared room through the video cam.

Daniel was woken up by a sudden beeping. Sitting up straight in bed (and knocking his head against the bed above him since he was in the bottom part of a bunk bed-), he stared at the video screen in his room that was flashing wildly. He was quick to jump out of bed and answer the call.

"Ok Dan I'm sorry for waking you up-" Tweak cut in hastily before he even had the chance to say hello. "But say, is Vanessa there?"

It took Dan a few moments to process what Tweak was saying and to snap out of his sleepy stupor. "Van?" He said suprised. "Well where would she go in the middle of the-" his voice trailed off as he turned around, only to find the bed where Vanessa usually slept empty. "Wait where is she?!"

"Don't tell me, she isn't there?!" Tweak questioned quickly.

"No, she isn't!"

"Uh oh-" Tweak cried in worry. As Daniel turned around to Tweak again, he saw the call switch off. What was going on?

He didn't have to ponder long, for five minutes later, he heard the Octo-alert, and the Captain's voice saying, "Octonauts, to the HQ!"

Jamming his feet into his boots and grabbing his satchel and hat, Daniel quickly ran out the door. Was Vanessa in trouble-?
