I figured that Mario Kart was a pretty good party game. Everyone gets super invested, and it's loud enough to block out any of the outside world. The greatest escape. I lost the first few rounds to Mina (2nd place isn't too bad, though), then gave up my controller to Mineta. I snuck out of the commons and made my way to the elevator.
Ding.
Floor 3.
I walked down the long hallway until I reached the door of my friend. He tried escaping the party without anyone noticing, but he wasn't as sneaky as he thought. I knocked on the door. No answer. I knocked again. Maybe he didn't hear it.
Silence.
Something was wrong. Usually he would have yelled already, probably nothing kind. It wasn't like him at all to just not answer. I checked the doorknob to see if he was even there. It was locked. Worrisome certainly isn't an adjective my closest friends would call me, but I had a really bad feeling about this. I ran back to the elevators, and the party.

I was easily winning. I had the perfect cart-character combination to win every time. Todoroki figured it out after win number 9, and I was promptly removed from player 4 for "cheating". I had just sat down at the far table where Tokoyami was actually cheating at Scrabble when Sero came running into the room, plastering himself against the wall to catch his breath. I half-jogged over to him. He hadn't actually chosen to run for any reason since January. Something must be up. Through wheezy breaths he said, "Bakugo... room... locked." It only took me a second to know what he meant. I left him with the competitive spellers ("Asthma or something" was our lie) and traced Sero's steps all the way up to Bakugo's dorm. As Sero had said, the door was locked. However, my friend should have never underestimated the amount of lockpicking supplies that sit permanently in my purse. I got to work, and in a woeful 30 seconds had the door open.
"Bakugo? You ok?"
I didn't see him anywhere. I was about to turn around when I felt a chilly breeze on my neck.
The window. Shit.
I reached around the window and unlocked the terrace door, then burst through and yelled my friend's name.
"BAKUGO YOU LITTLE BITCH WHERE ARE YOU?"
A note of panic overtook my last few words. God, Sero had looked so worried. If that asshole was here right this second I'd kick his ass. Kiri would too, he's the o-
Oh.
Ohhhhhhhh.
I'm so stupid.
