F I R S T Y E A R

Rebecca briefly hugged her mother, father and younger brother Draco goodbye. She quickly grabbed her things and rushed onto the train taking her seat. Not looking back, thankful she was able to breath again without the feeling of judgment of over every small detail in her short life. She was different, not the usual Malfoy, she had values, she was the black sheep of the family.

She made her way to an empty carriage, soon to be bustling with other students. From the carriage she watched a family, all ginger. They embraced each other like to never see one another again. Feeling a pang of jealousy, she shook it off. That's all Rebecca ever wanted, a loving family. Weasley's? Remembering her judgmental father mentioning them at dinner a few nights before. He spoke down of them, even though they were pure bloods, they're poor or something like that. Her dad hates poor folk, not worthy or something. Ridiculous. She watched as the mother with ginger curls try to neaten up a pair of freckled twins, the elder bother looked like a perfect student, where as these twins weren't bothered by any of that, scruffy as they get. They almost looked naughty.
The whistle went and all three boys rushed onto the train, leaving their mother and two smaller ginger children, boy and a girl, how many of them are there?

Rebecca leaned her head back, closing her eyes taking a moment to enjoy the peace till the sliding door squeaked. Two ginger mops of hair poked up from around the corner.
'Hey George, recon she's sleepin?'
'Nah Fred! Her eyes are twitching.' He pointed 'Excuse me, can we come sit with you?'
Rebecca let out a sigh and sat her self up.
'Yeah that's fine'
She then leaned over to her bag and pulled out a book, avoiding a conversation the boys who sat opposite her.
'What's your name then?' One boy plucked up and asked
'First year? Us too' the other followed
'Recon you know what house you're gonna get?'
'I'm Fred by the way and that's George'
She looked up from her book, taken back by the amount of questions being sent her way, the fact they didn't get her hint of being left alone. She raised her head to answer the two confident boys.
'I'm Rebecca, Rebecca Malfoy. Yes, it's my first year and I'm not sure, my whole family have been in Slythrin for years. I'd be happy with anything other then that I guess, I'm nothing like them. Also, how am I meant to tell you two apart? Who's who then?'
'A Malfoy! Aren't you all bad? You seem nice enough, not tried to kill us yet.'
'Shhh George, you can't go saying things like that! And I'm Fred! I have a sick scar on my nose, LOOK' he pointed to his nose. She leaned in to look with a bit of a giggle
'Oh yeah, look at that!' She pointed to his nose. She then turned to look back at George 'What are you? Weasleys? My parents have mentioned you before, and I'm not like the others. I don't believe in all that pure blood supremacy, seems ridiculous to me.' She smiled and sat back.
'Yeah we're Weasleys, what gave it away?' George smiled back
'The hair' she smiled pointing up. She sat back reopening her book resuming what she was doing before. The twins started talking among themselves.
The well dressed brother from this morning rushed to the door of the carriage, out of breathe and sweaty. 'FRED, GEORGE! I've been looking for you for ages! Mum said I have to keep an eye on you, come sit with me and my friends.' The elder ginger boy explained.
The twins both let out an equally long sigh, George standing up with his things. 'But Percy...!' George moaned. Rebecca interrupted him 'You boys better listen before he tells you off anymore' she smiled not even looking up. Fred giggled to himself shaking his head.
The twins standing, George opened the door following his older brother. Fred stopped at the door, watching his bothers walking away, assuming he was following. As soon as it was safe enough he turned back and shut the door, pushing all of Rebecca's things onto the floor. He sat next to her just watching her read.
'Who likes reading anyways?' He asked
Looking up from her book, down at her bags and coat laying on the floor in front of the tall slender ginger boy before looking up at him.
'I like reading, thank you. What happened to you following that big brother of yours? Keeping you out of mischief? Won't he just come back looking for you?'
'Too many questions Becky...'
'Rebecca!'
'Becky!'
'It's Rebecca, Weasley!'
'I like Becky better, Malfoy! ANYWAYS... you're far more entertaining then Percy and George!'
'Hmmm...Well if you get to call me Becky what do I get to call you then? Annoying ginger number 1?' She giggled to herself
'Nahh how about Freddie? Freddie and Becky?'
'Freddie? FINE... that's ya nickname, Fred when talking in company and Frederick when I'm annoyed at you!'
'Deal!' He raised his hand to be shaken, she looked up at him with a confused look then looked back down to his large hands and followed his lead, they shook hands on it.
'I guess that's our deal done Freddie' she smiled at him. He stood back up, grabbing his things and rushed to the door.
'We're gonna be good friends Becky, I can see it now!' He smiled
'Alright! I will see ya later Freddie, don't get in anymore trouble with Percy.' She smiled picking up the things from the floor and placing them back next to her, then resuming her book for what felt like the 100th time that train journey.
The door slammed behind Fred, his voice echoed across the train 'GEORGE! PERCY!' Followed by loud stomps with him running down the hall.
