His eyes widened slightly in shock as he registered what my mother had said. "What?" He hissed, unbelieving. "You're telling me that you would rather die protecting your child than to abandon her and live?"

"Yes." She firmly nodded her head, ignoring my distressed whimpers for her to move, to ran. I was rather surprised at my own reaction. I hadn't expected that I would be willing to save her even though I knew she was the only thing between me and death. Maybe coming into this life, I had gained Percy's fatal flaw.

"So be it then," Kronos said, drawing his wand. "Avada Kedavra!" A bright green light shone and shot to my mother's chest, tearing through the small shield I had made using a burst of accidental magic. She crumpled, like a broken puppet who had lost her strings, to the ground.

"Mama!" I cried, tears streaming down my face, at the final smile she had on her pale face, directed at me. From how peaceful she looked, I realized that this had been her plan all along. To sacrifice herself to protect me. Her magic drifted over and settled onto my skin like a blanket, making me cry even harder. "No, no!"

Kronos directed his wand at me. "Don't worry, brat. You're next." He carefully aimed at my forehead and uttered the spell, once again. "Avada Kedavra!" Once more, the green light shot out, this time aimed for me.

I felt a searing pain on my forehead, and my mother's magic gathering and repelling the spell at Kronos. He screamed, dropping his wand, as his own spell vaporized his vessel and half of the house. I dropped into the rubble, still stunned by the events that had just occurred. Moments after he vanished, the Olympians flashed in, all wearing armor.

My father immediately turned pale. "No. No! Lily? Rhea? Hades, are they still alive?" he turned around and grabbed his brother, shaking him back and force, panic and horror written across his face. Hades pushed Poseidon off him impatiently, before turning to Zeus.

"Zeus, our father has come here, but it seems like his vessel has been destroyed. He hasn't been sent back to Tartarus though," he warned as he saw the Gods and Goddesses relax. "he has managed to anchor his soul to the mortal world, through magical means. Also, Poseidon, you might want to start thinking about who you're going to entrust your daughter with, now that her biological mother is dead." Hades said dismissively, jerking his thumb towards me.

Father's face lit up then fell again as he realized that I was still alive, but mum had gone to the underworld. He conjured a stream of water that carried me gently to his embrace. I started to cry as mum's death finally fully registered to me. WHY! Why us? Why mum? It wasn't fair!

Mum had been the nicest person that I had in my new life. She had been the one always there for me. Always ready to give a warm hug when I was feeling distressed about losing my friends in my past life. Patiently reading story after story to me when I refused to go to sleep. And now she was gone. Gone. Because of a stupid prophesy. Because of Kronos. Because I wasn't strong enough.

I set my face in determination as tears continued to stream down my face. Right that moment, I made a promise to myself. I will become stronger, and avenge mum. No one will be hurting my family, ever again.
