Luke's POV:
It's been 5 years; exactly 5 years today. 5 years since I told the biggest lie, and broke the heart of the girl I was in love with.
I didn't want to. God no. I was, and am still in love with Kayla. I was even on my way to tell her the great news, that One Direction asked us to go on tour with them.
--Flashback--
"Luke! Where ya goin mate?" Ashton; my band mate, and best friend hollered from his sprawled out position on the tan sofa as I donned my jacket. I cocked my head at him as I slipped my left arm through the hole of the denim jacket,
"To tell Kayla the great news! We've been waiting for this moment forever" I grinned giddily, slipping on my shoes as the light of the sunniest day of the year poured in through the window.
"Woah woah wait." The previous joking tone his voice held was now replaced with a serious, more dire tone as his eyes narrowed towards me. "You're going to what?" He made a face at me, as he pushed himself up to a seated position.
"Tell Kayla the news...?" I threw him a confused glance as I grabbed my keys from the rack. My hand was just hovering over the door knob, when Ashton suddenly appeared beside me, and yanked the key ring swiftly from my hand. "What the hell, dude?" I stared at him in disbelief.
"You can't do that, mate..." He mumbled, a panicked look set in his eyes.
"And why the hell not?" I folded my arms across my chest in annoyance. I mean, I know he's never really like Kayla and I dating - why I haven't the slightest clue - but I knew her before him. He has no right to walk into my life and close the door on her role she plays in mine,
"Time to tell him, guys!" Ash's high pitched voice broke my train of thought, as it echoed through the house, summoning our other two band members. Calum wandered in from the kitchen, in the process of finishing off a piece of toast with vegemite slathered on it, just as Michael bounded down the stairs two at a time with an X-Box controller in his left hand. Both came to stand on either side of Ashton in a sort of authoritative way. Confusion plagued me as I glanced around at them.
"Alright, if someone doesn't tell me what's going on right now, I-"
"You need to end it with Kayla, mate." Calum interrupted me; spitting those words out so fast, I thought I misheard them. I raised an eyebrow in confusion, as I stared at the three of them with apologetic expressions plastered on.
"Sorry," I laughed, shifting my weight to my right foot. "What did you just say? I could've sworn you just told me to break up with Kayla. The love of my life. The girl I've spent practically my whole life with long before you guys even came along." I sent Calum a threatening look. He licked his lips, and tugged at the hem of his white tshirt before replying.
"That's exactly what I said."
Silence enveloped the room for a few moments, as I processed the reality of the situation. This wasn't just another one of their practical jokes. Even if it was, why tell me to break up with my girlfriend of 4 years?
"What the fuck, why?!" I slammed my fist down on the table as anger surged through my veins.
"You need to focus on our band and our music now; no girl is going to get in the way." Michael crossed his arms, as if to say 'that's the end of it'. However, the short boy standing in front of me, with his hair dyed black and fringe way too long, was not too intimidating.
"Bull shit! Kayla doesn't distract me!!" My voice thundered through the huge house, stripped of everything, and shoved away into boxes and suitcases for the upcoming world tour we were about to embark on.
