PLAY PRETEND

Young she was, young at age

She played pretend with all her friends.

A princess, a doctor, a singer she was,

Too young to notice all of her flaws.

Young she is, young at heart,

Still playing pretend, leaping in the dark.

Time is passing by, she pretends she has plenty,

"It's only 15:00 now, I will start when its 20:00"

She sees her work piling,

The brain makes a decision,

But the heart's way too meek,

It makes a division.

She hears people calling but pretends not to hear,

Keeps turning and fidgeting,

Trembling in fear.

How long will she play pretend?

How long will life be black and gray?

"It is now a pattern, this game has no end"

Ignorance is bliss is false as they say.
