(A/N: Hello children, in this book there's a l o t of trauma to unpack so this is just a heads up. Here's a quick splurge on the original species, Antares.
Antares are created by anomalies in the universe, for example a meteor crashing, a star dying, you get the point. These dragons have a different time system, one year to them is 500 human years, although in their first 1500 years they age to around 20, from then on they slowly age. They don't need food to survive, they can photosynthesize, they don't need air to live (they live in space duh) and can go 3 months without sleep and 2 months without any calorie intake. They're far more advanced in technology than humans, several centuries in fact. They have colonies all throughout the universe, where the mother kingdom is, no one but its inhabitants are certain)
This story takes place on the earth colony, starting out in the 1500's, the Earth colony revolted against the mother kingdom and became independent, soon creating a new species, the Capricolina, a species of sea dragon. Every dragon in the colony was soon to be transformed into a Capricolina, thankfully the Antares are shapeshifters, so a select few stayed in their pure form. The government of the Earth colony is the Light, although it's extremely corrupt. The king who broke away from the mother kingdom was a tyrant, so Osprey's eldest brother took the throne in a revolution. When Capricolina and Antares use their powers, it damages them. The user of power can choose if it deteriorates the physical state or mental state, and sadly Osprey's eldest brother chose to damage his mental state, and his soul became more corrupt than the previous tyrant's, after a few human years (I'll always use human years unless I state delta years) the people had enough. Osprey and Caiman took over the kingdom, killing the eldest brother in a revolt, leaving the kingdom in peace. Or so the people thought. Caiman starved the people and overcharged for food, but the nobles and royalty ate well. Osprey spent every meal sneaking food to the people, it wasn't much but it was all she could do. The people greatly favored Osprey and wanted her to be the next ruler, but she knew she could never stay in the stronghold. The surface called to her, soon she learned the surface only held tides of war.
