Katherine’s POV:
When the boys sit down and start eating, they all joke around with each other, Paul constantly telling them not to talk with their mouths full. I have to admit, they’re not your average cute guys. In fact, they act like dorks, but it’s still adorable. Suddenly, a girl with long, wavy dirty-blonde/brown hair walks over to our table, and Niall’s face instantly lights up at the sight of her. He stands up and gives her a kiss on the cheek.
“Katherine, this is my girlfriend, Lizzy,” Niall says.
“Hey, it’s nice to meet you,” Lizzy greets, smiling just as much as Niall.
As soon as she starts eating, I can tell she eats as much as Niall, too. Do all of them have girlfriends? For some strange reason, I hope that Harry is single, even though my chances of ever catching his eye are close to nothing.
“So how’d you meet these idiots?” Lizzy asks me jokingly. Niall makes a face at her, his mouth full of food, and she just laughs.
“Well I met Paul and Liam last night as I was checking in. I had just been driving for a few hours on my way to visit my family. And then I saw them again this morning,” I say, offering her a smile.
“You were driving by yourself? That sucks! How long are you staying here?” Lizzy says.
“Probably about a week,” I reply.
I can’t believe I just said that. A week? Here? I had only checked in the hotel for the night, and I’m supposed to be leaving by three o’clock.
“Same with us. The boys get a few days off, so it’s nice to be spending them in Los Angeles. If you want, you can come down and hang out with us at the beach later,” she says.
Los Angeles. So that’s where I am. I don’t have much time to think, because it looks like she wants an immediate answer.
“Uh, I guess. But I’m only checked in for the night, so I don’t think I can stay in the hotel,” I reply.
“Oh yeah, I heard the hotel is all booked. Well why don’t you just stay in my suite? Besides, I’ve been hanging out with six guys for the whole trip, and it gets a bit tiring,” Lizzy says with a shrug.
“I really don’t want to bug you or anything…” I trail off.
“Don’t be silly! You wouldn’t bug me at all. We can go shopping and do whatever,” she replies cheerfully.
“I guess, I could—,” I start to say, but she grabs my arm and drags me through the lobby, toward the elevator.
“Great! Let’s go toss your stuff in our room and get changed for the beach,” she says as we step into the elevator.
I smile and nod. I’m still trying to figure out why this girl is so nice to me. It looks like she’s holding back a laugh the whole way to my room. When we get inside, she just bursts out laughing. I stand there, confused.
“What’s so funny?” I question.
“You! Harry! Did you see the way he was looking at you? I had to pull you away and tell you,” she replies, still giggling a little.
“Then why are you laughing?” I ask.
“Because you both look so cute together! Really, I’ve known Harry for years, and I’ve never seen him look at a girl like that,” she says.
