Chapter 22.

1 month and a half since they're not home. Also 1 month and a half since I started my styling studies which means today was my last day in the academy. 

It was on a Friday. A cold, rainy Friday. I took my umbrella and my coat and made my way to the academy. It was the last day so we were going to have a "little party". 

Right after I finished in the academy, I said goodbye to everyone and I made my way to Lucy's shop. Today was my last day as going just in the afternoon. Next week I'd start going like I did before going to the academy. 

At work, Lucy was acting weird. She looked at me with a nervous look all the time. Sometimes I looked at her and shook my head like asking her what was wrong but she just looked away. 

"Cristy, when you finish with that, come to the back room, please" She told me whole I tidied some stuff in a shelf. I nodded at her. 

It was almost the time to go home so I finished as quickly as I could and I went to the back room. 

"What do you want, Lucy?" I asked with a smile. 

"Look Cristy, I am glad I met you and I am glad Harry told me about you because you've been such a good help for me these months" she said. She was talking so fast I could feel she was nervous. I gave her a confused look.

"but I think I... I don't need your services anymore" she finally said after a few seconds of looking nervously all around the room. 

"what?" I asked scared. 

"Does that mean you fire me?" I asked even more scared. The first thing that came to my mind was "no money = back to Dallas". 

"Yes, I am sorry. I... These last months we haven't had so many sells and I can't pay you properly" she said looking down. 

"oh" I just said.

"here you have the money of this month, I'm sorry." She repeated. 

"Okay, thanks Lucy. At least you've been honest with me" I said faking a smile. 

I know it wasn't her fault but she knew I really needed that job and now I had no job. I took all my stuff and made my way to Anne's place. When I arrived she received me with a hug and I told her what happened. 

"It's okay babe, we'll help you find a job" She said rubbing my back while we were sitting on the couch. Carry was already in my lap. 

"but Anne if I don't find a job I'll have to go back to Dallas, and I don't want to go there" I said resting my elbows on my knees and covering my face with my hands. 

"you don't have to go there, you can stay here" she said sweetly. 

"no" I quickly said after she finished. 

"I don't want to live for free here. I need the money. I won't let you and Harry pay for me, no. Just no" I said. She smiled at my words. 

"but you know Harry won't listen to you and he'll do it anyway." She laughed.

"I won't let him. I'll punch him if it's necessary" I said looking at Anne who was laughing at my words. 

"Okay sweetie" she just said taking Carry in her lap. 

"can I sleep here today, Anne?" I asked her as I got up and took my phone.
