This is back in the present by the way

America sat on the couch and Russia walked over with a cup of water for him. The rims of the American's eyes were a little red from crying, his complexion was rosy but saddened.

"Are you calm now?" Russia handed the glass to him, the ice shifted in the water as he did. America stared blankly at his reflection in the water before drinking all of it in a few large gulps. "Yes." He finally replied.

Russia sat down next to him and unconsciously rested his shoulders on the couch which made him wince in pain. The American was alarmed by this, remembering how he punched him repeatedly in the heat of the moment.

He pursed his lips and went to the kitchen, he opened a few drawers before taking out a med kit.

"Take it off." America said calmly as he opened the med kit. Russia averted his gaze, "there's no need, I am fine."

America was starting to get a bit impatient, "take it off," He said firmly again. Russia gave in under his heated gaze, on his shoulder was a nasty bruise.

America helped him bandage his wounds, somewhere along the process he muttered in a volume close to a whisper, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hurt you."

The Russian shivered whenever the other male's hands touched his skin, he was caught off guard by this apology. "Don't apologize, I'm the one who should apologize."

"You're the one getting hurt why are you apologizing?"

Russia grabbed America's hand, stopping him from continuing. He turned his head and stared him right in the eyes.

In those amber eyes was devotion, admiration, care, and many other mixed feelings. America felt like his legs would turn in jelly.

"I'm sorry for doubting you before, I know you'd never do something like that."

America gave a low chuckle, his hand was still gripped by the other. "That was two years ago I'm already over it."

"No you're not over it, don't lie to me, I know the words still hurt even after two years, no matter how you may have gotten used to it. You really shouldn't get used to things like these." The Russian's eyes lowered, traces of sadness hidden in his gaze.

America tilted his head, a few strands of hair fell onto his face. "I can't get butthurt every single time a mean comment is directed at me." He used his other free hand to pry the taller male's hand off of his. Then he continued to treat his wounds.

A silence followed between them.

Until Russia broke the silence, "why don't you speak up and defend yourself, she doesn't have concrete evidence against you anyways."

"I do not have concrete evidence to prove my innocence as well, I do not want to claim myself innocent in front of everyone when I don't have evidence to prove I really am innocent." He paused, then continued again. "That is why I left without saying anything."

The American rested his forehead on the Russian's uninjured shoulder. Russia was worried he would start crying again and hurried to hug him. America laughed at his actions and slowly melted into his embrace. A small pink flush spread across both their cheeks.

His lips curved into a smile, "You were so cold to me before, why the sudden change of heart after I left?" Russia's eyebrows scrunched as if remembering an unsettling memory, "I just... had a hard time expressing my happiness, I'm going to treat you better this time I promise."

America was going to say something but Russia cut in once more, "I believe in you, more than anything, so remember that I'll always be here for you. You're not alone. I'm sorry if I made you feel that way before."

Tears of happiness threatened to spill out of the shorter male's eyes, but he held it in. "Okay," his voice trembled a little but he was happy. Happy to know that at least Russia cared about him.

They spent the night talking, before they knew it both of them fell asleep on the couch.

The next morning when America woke up, the sight that greeted him was not Russia but an empty apartment. He felt a little sad because of that but then noticed the little note on his coffee table.

The handwriting was a bit disorganized but strong and bold, quite pleasant to read. It read,

'Dear America, I left early because I had things to do, I meant everything I said last night. Also please check your social media, I know it's scary but at least try to. I hope you're doing better. '

America felt butterflies in his stomach when he read the note. He reluctantly opened his phone and went to his social media.

He was mentioned in a few famous people's social media. There was Russia, Germany, Poland, China, Singapore and a few more.

They were all actors and actresses from his recent reality show that purposely ruined his image for views. They all spoke against the staff of that show, saying that they purposely made him look bad for views.

They explained the few misunderstandings that were created by that show's staff. Like the food spill on the first day and why America didn't do as much work as everyone else. Explaining that he was injured on purpose by the staff and was still forced to go through with the games.

The comments gave America a sense of relief, they still didn't like America but they acknowledged that doing things like that were absolutely horrible and unfair.

But some comments said he deserved all of it for what he did. There's always those kinds of people in this world.

The official account of the show surprisingly also admitted their faults and what they did after a few of their staff admitted to all the claims.

America was shocked speechless and extremely happy as well that all of this was cleared up and the misunderstanding didn't spiral down even more.

'Russia must've done something' he thought to himself, the thought made his heart warm.

He rushed to text the Russian.

Did you do something to make them talk? You really didn't have to..>

Russia replied almost immediately.

<I have connections here and there, it's no big deal, are you happy?

Yes I'm really grateful, thank you so much>

<if you're grateful, how about having dinner with me?

America's heart jumped out of his chest, Russia wanted to have dinner with him, how could he stay calm?

Sure>

When America thought about it again he has never been to Russia's place. He felt quite excited as he hugged his pillow and giggled. Despite loving Russia, he didn't trust him fully. It was just quite traumatic for him to trust people so it'll take time but America felt like he was slowly getting there.

Slowly opening up, slowly getting over his fears and slowly loving someone again.

What he didn't know was that Russia did his very best to prove America was being used on purpose during that show. He spent a lot of effort finding connections and spent some money as well to help. When America agreed to the dinner he didn't feel any calmer than America, his face brightened noticeably. He didn't look as aloof as before which made the staff around him right now become confused.

All he wanted was to see America happy.

That was all.
