Raven's P.O.V

The brown haired nerd before me is actually my ex-best friend. She's still here? I thought a few weeks into middle school, she'd ditched me entirely an left this tragedy school without a second thought, but really she's been here all this time and I've what...? Too busy attracting attention to snobby girls that probably still don't remember my name. I feel like absolute sh*t, I mean how can I be so conceited that I don't notice her in the class? All she has on are glasses for crying out loud.
I glance over at Brooklyn to see that, she too, was stuck in a daze. Is that a thing here or am I just that boring? I'm probably just that boring. I clear my throat out, long and loud, to get her attention, but she barely flinches. Is she ignoring me? Then, if so she's really convincing because that noise was so loud that it echoed through this black, hazardous, doom of a space. A few thoughts swirling through my mind at the silence:

"Am I going to die here?"

"How angry is Brooklyn at me?"

"WHERE AM I???"

"Is this all a dream?"

and last, but not least...

"Is it okay if I cry now?"

Finally, I put my petty feelings aside and act rationally.

"Brooks?" No response. "Brooks?" If she doesn't talk to me, who's she going to talk to?

"Brooks?"

She turns toward me,"Sorry. What?"

A wave of relief washes over me,"W-what do you last remember before arriving here?"

She wrinkles her nose up and sits on a nearby rock. Convenient!

"Okay. So, I was listening to Mrs. Bert and writing down notes, but after a while I are bored out of my mind. I mean, how much math can one child seriously comprehend in one day? It's revolting really--she adjusts her glasses--anyways, I started to look around the room. First, over to you since I still--looks at her feet--never mind. Umm...well I just studied everyone, but the one I couldn't take my eyes off was Evans, Evans Russe."

Wait. What?

Who's Evans? And when did Brooks become such a nerd?

I feel a small grin crawl onto my face,"Who's Evan? Does he have hazel eyes by any chance?"

Because if so we both looked at the same person before ending up in this spooky place.

"Yeah. He's so hot, right? Why are you asking? Do you like him? I swear if you do I will break you limb by-"

"No, no, no. It's just before I got here the same thing happened to me..."

Brook seems to finally take more notice of her surroundings.

"I wish I had a snack!"

That was random, guess she's hungry.

My stomach growls.

"I could eat too!"

And with that a beam of light and golden gates appear out of thin air, literally. I'd know especially since there was no sign of life earlier.

Instinctively both Brooklyn and I follow the light into the gates.

"I knew I was secretly a wizard."

"Not anymore. The secrets out." I tease

Brooklyn's Point of View

The gates shut quickly behind us making a CREAK CREAK CREEEEEEAK noise that almost made me pee my pants. Don't tell Raven I said that!

"Sh*t. We're going to die. We're going to die!"

Surprisingly I find myself saying,"Chill, dude. It's just a gate."

She stiffens,"Yeah right. It's not 'just a gate' it's a gate that we just so happen to find magically appearing--raises her voice-- in this black abyss because we looked at who again?"

"Evans.--my voice rasp and steady-- Evans Russe."

"Right. Right...anyways and none of this makes since. Where are we? How did we get here? Why are we here? Does anyone notice we're missing?"

"I..."

"Exactly. We're screwed and we're going to die here. Just admit it!"

"But-"

"Admit it!"

"Okay. fine. We're going to face a long insufferable death at the hands of something deadly in some 'mystical' world. So 'fun'." I say with sarcasm spewing out my mouth left and right.

The rest of the walk was silent for a good hour or two. I'm just so mad at her. She has no idea how much this has been affecting me, especially being in close proximity to her, reminding me of all those times. Whenever we'd talk for long nights at my house and paint each others nails, those conversations about me, what we wanted to do after college, and those promises... the friendship promises.

Now...

Now all I do is blame myself for screwing that up. I mean, I was too nerdy for her friends so she was put in an awkward position to choose. Maybe I would've chosen popularity over myself to? Ha. What do I mean 'maybe'? Of course I would've.

"Brook, do you hear that?" Raven says, which snatches me out of my pity session.

"N-no."

"I think it's coming from over there?" She says, then points to a bush.

I feel my hands start to shake.

"Come out whoever you are!!" Raven shouts at the bush, keeping her distance.

At this time, suspenseful music wouldn't kill. The rustling in the bushes continued, my hands were wet, my heart thumping wildly, and if my glasses are working then Raven is grabbing onto my ears. She's scared too!

Finally, a figure approaches from the bushes, more classmates.

"EVANS?!" Both Raven and I cooed.

Back at school was an unconscious Evans, who was the cause for the chaos and destruction taking place inside his head. Yeah, no need to read it again, I'll say it again. Brooklyn and Raven are stuck inside his head, well at least their consciousness is. They, themselves are still in school, sitting in the desk they were in before it all started and oh it just gets better from there. See, while they're trapped inside his head, time stands still so what could feel like an eternity to them, would literally be nothing, once that got back. Evans, of course is aware of this because it's a hidden power of his, or.....was hidden.
