Raven was in the middle of math class, taking a geometry test. Aren't they the worst? When she realized that her pencil broke. She rose her hand up, to alert the teacher, but as she tiredly waited for her teachers attention she gazed over at a boy with ash blonde hair. She must've been staring at him for a lifetime because he turned around, exposing his vibrant hazel eyes that showed through his cluster of hair covering his face down to the top of his nose.
Raven couldn't understand how she never noticed him before and as she took all that into thought, she started to feel unsteady. Like her body was staring to turn off, like the energy had been sucked from her, drained even. She tried to fight the trance, that she was sure she was put under, but then...then she yawned a big, loud, unruly yawn and like magic she was out for the count. Raven was deep in a hazy sleep.Raven's P.O.V
"S W E E T D R E A M S."
I'm almost sure I heard someone echo in this black abyss. I'm getting the creeps. I wonder how to escape? I look around this black pit for some possible pathway, door, or maybe even I don't know a sign saying:
Exit Here
Instead I saw one of my classmates, from math class, appear from the sky and fall to the ground with a thud. It was girl with long black hair, rounded glasses with tap on the frames, an oversized sweater that said:
A THINKER SINCE DAY ONE
With a lightbulb underneath it, and khaki jeans.
The only reason I even knew she was in my class was because whenever she's called on to answer the question she always gets it right. I guess I'll call her nerd for now.
I clear my throat to get her attention. "Hey. Nerd!"
She pulls herself up the ground, brushes herself off, then blankly stares at me for a moment.
"Wait a minute..." I say starting to notice her facial features clearly.
"Brooklyn, is that...you?"
She takes off her glasses and says,"I didn't know if you'd ever remember me."

-FLASHBACK
Raven and I had been friends for years. We'd play together at the playground everyday, have sleepovers, and eat lunch together at school. It was amazing, I wasn't sure about the other kids, but I thought I knew for sure that I'd always have Raven, we were thick as thieves. Well, that was until middle school came, then she became a different person; craving attention from seventh graders, entertaining new trends to join popular squads, and ignoring me in the process. Every time we'd make plans to meet up they'd get cancelled by...
You guessed it Raven. It's like she was always to busy for me and she never made an effort to spend time with me. Leaving me alone, which made me want a fresh start. I thought maybe if I put on some makeup, some high heels, a mini dress, and maybe do something to my hair. I could become popular and I'd finally have my friend back.
So, I watched a few tutorial videos-- few meaning one, five minute video--and decided I put curling rods in my hair which surprisingly took under ten minutes, now to make a mini dress. I took one of my dresses that I wore to a funeral and grabbed some scissors and I went mad with cutting up until the point it looked more like a skirt than a dress. I tried it on and it fit me snugly and it showed a lot. I'll just wear tights with it I tell myself.
The next day after putting together my outfit, I slipped out the door before my mom could see me and strolled to school. I was scared, afraid and unsure of what people would think of me, but I took the chance. Once I made it to the school and I walked down that hallway I was gaining confidence, people were pointing at me, whispering, and snickering.
That's a good thing, right? WRONG!
After a few minutes a girl walked up to me with designer clothing, freshly curled hair, manicured hands, and a bad attitude.
"Loser, what exactly are you trying to pull? You look like you're off of one of those people that belong in The Guinness World Record book in the section 'Gone Wrong'."
Everyone coos at her insult.
I SPENT ALL NIGHT ON THIS, I want to tell her.
Instead I run wobble to the restroom. I just cry in the bathroom for the rest of the day feeling like an utter failure at life, friendships, my peers. A total joke! Boy has wallowing in self pity ever felt this good? I don''t know, but when the last bell rang I was the first one out of school and maybe even the first one home. When I got there I ran to my room and flopped on my bed.
-SEVERAL HOURS OF SELF PITY LATER
"Honey?"
"What?" I mutter from under my blanket.
"We need to talk."
"Later?"
"Now."
"Later...?"
"Now! I'm coming in." My mom finally said and with that opened the door and sat on the side of my bed.
"What happened at school today? Why were you wearing that ridiculous outfit?" My mom asked.
WOW MOM. THANKS!
"I was being stupid. School sucked."
"Oh baby." My mom said before she wrapped her arms around me.
-THE NEXT DAY
"Mom, you know where your old glasses are?"
"Yeah, in my dresser."
I rush to her room and grab them, clean the lenses and put them on. They cover up my whole face (practically).
"How do I look?" I ask my mom, as I walk out of her room.
"Who are you? And what have you down to Brooklyn?" My mom joked.
I giggled,"Is it okay if I..."
"Go ahead."
"Thanks mom." I say and kiss her on the cheek as I run out the door.
-FLASHBACK ENDED
"Brooks? Brooks? Brooks?"
I snap out of my daze.
"Yeah?"
"Where were you before you came here?"
TO BE CONTINUED...
