It's a pretty cold winter. Well that's not saying much, it's always cold here. The snow is falling , making it hard to see where I'm walking. After awhile, I can finally see the small café in front of me. During the winter I come here everyday to enjoy the warm coffee and to watch the snow from the window seat.
I walk into the coffee shop and walk over to the counter, leaving a trail of snow that's falling off my shoes and coat. Today was one of the very snowy days of the year. At least a few inches for every hour or so that it snows.
"Hi Daniel. You want your usual?" Christina asks. Since I come here everyday she's learned my name and my order.
"Hi Chris. Yes I'll do my usual. Today was a cold one." She nods and starts with my drink.
"So what's my favorite customer doing today?"
"Oh just grabbing a drink before I go to the bookstore."
"I've been meaning to go. I found a new book that my friends sister recommended to me."
"Well I can wait here and we could go together. I wouldn't mind." She smiles and hands me my drink.
"Are you sure? It'll be at least 25 minutes till my break."
"Yes I'm sure. It give me time to watch the snow."
"Oh classic Dani. Well I'll tell you when I'm done." I smile and walk over to the chair by the window.
I hear the door open a few minutes later. I don't look up from the book that I have pulled out of my bag. In the background I here Chris and the new person talking.
"Hi, what can I get for you?" Christina says. The stranger looks like he's freezing. Snow coving there hair and bag.
"H-hi. Could I get a latte?" I try to see if I can catch a look at there face. They turn to me, there green eyes locking with mine.
"And what's the name I can put with the latte?" Chris asks.
"Corbyn with a y." He looks back at her. "Actually, just put bean, it's easier."
Bean. That's cute.
Christina hands him his drink. He walks over to me, looking out the window once he reaches me.
"The city looks great right now." I can't tell if he was saying that to me or himself. He takes a seat in one of the chairs across from me. "Hi, I'm Corbyn. Well you probably already heard that."
"I'm Daniel. You new to the city?" I ask. He seems nice.
"Yeah, I moved here a few weeks ago from Virginia. Spokane just seems like a magical city to me."
"You could say that. What I think is that it's cold. But in the winter its pretty nice to live here." He smiles. His smile is adorable. "Me and Christina are going to a book store when she's on break, you want to join us?"
"Sure. I've been meaning to go there." We talk a little longer. One of the other workers Anna, my sister, takes over so the three of us head to the bookstore.
